Posts about Ford Edge
FordEdge will be going dark June 12-14 in protest of Reddit's absurd API pricing that will kill third-party apps. We will go private for at least 48hrs.
For more context, read through this post and some of the links within, or check out this graphic.
TL;DR: Reddit is going to start charging absurd amounts for their API access. Like "would cost the biggest third-party app $20M/month" absurd. The users are the ones who provide the content, which in turn gives the site any value at all.
Hello Fellow DubaiPetrolHeads,
So its been sometime that I thought ill share a post with regards to my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium Car. Now am not saying that this is the best car in the market or just because this is my car that its awesome, but let me give out some info on the car, the circumstances and why I feel this is a good car.
So back in 2019 I decided that I needed a Mid Size SUV as I was driving my company car which was a Toyota Yaris and the Yaris though its a very reliable car and I enjoyed the short drives to and fro office, it always felt like a small car where I had to extend the seat all the way back, not much of options and the bottom of the car hitting the road while going underground to a car parking. Though we are only 3 members thats Me, My Wife and a year old kid a 5 seater was a good enough option that I was looking forward to
So I decided to check on few Mid Size SUV's with a budget of 120K Max and came across these options. 1. Honda CRV
2. Nissan X Trail
3. Renault Koleos
Though I liked CRV a lot the full option variant was beyond my budget and somehow I did not get the right vibes with the X Trail's full option. Renault Koleos full option on the other hand was great at the price of 114K with many of the options that I liked though I found certain options of lesser quality but it had my favorite color, great sound systems, vertical touch screen like the tesla and overall I kinda liked it though the engine was not a strong point for the car.
So somehow I decided my mind and thought of booking it in the Sharjah Showroom, on the way to the showroom my mind suddenly diverted to the ford showroom and I thought let me simply have a look at the cars. My attention struck to the Ford Edge and that time I knew it was way beyond my budget as the Titanium version was around 160K. But to my damn luck the sales lady there mentioned that they have a few cars of the previous 2017 year variant for sale. So basically they quoted a Ford Edge 2017 Titanium version for 117K which includes 5 years warranty and 3 years service. I was like shocked for a moment. I re-assessed the car which was on display in the showroom looking at the pro's and cons
Pro's
It had a V6 3.5L Natural Aspirated Engine. I didn't bother about the petrol prices then as it was cheap.= and produced around 280 HP
As it was the Titanium Edition it came with most of the stuff that I needed and beyond like
Panoramic Sunroof
12 Speaker Sony Surround System
7 Inch Touch Screen infotainment with GPS, Navigation, Apple Car Play, Android Auto
Dual Climate Control
10 Way Power Seat Driver and Passenger (Front Only)
3 Memory Slots for your Steering / Seat and Side View Mirrors
19 Inch Alloy Wheels
Rear Camera
Blind Spot Assist
E-Park Brakes
Electronic Tilt + Telescopic Steering Wheel
Remote Engine Start
Huge Interior Space
Great Boot Space
Lot of Spacious Compartments and Glove Box
2 USB Slots with Bluetooth Connectivity
Dual Digital Speedometer Display
Ambient Lighting with 6 colors to choose from
8 Air Bags with 5 Star Safety Rating
Hands Free Foot Activated Liftgate
Electronic Rear Split Seat Controls
Rear Parking Sensors
Leather Seats
Cool and Heated Ventilated Front Seats
Auto Dimming Driver Side and Rear Rear View Mirrors
etc..etc..etc...
Cons..
Well it did not have LED Headlamps... it had the common Halogen Projected Headlamps for Dim and Bright which was a turn off for me.
Mileage it only churns around 8 - 9 Kmpl
Grand Canyon (Brown) was the only color left
Did not have the auto folding side mirrors.
Well all these cons were not of great significance and I booked the car and became a proud owner of a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium in Grand Canyon Color in April 2019.
Its been nearly 4 years since I had taken the ownership and the experience so far was great. I love the car till date though it has its bits and pieces of issues which ill explain in a bit.
So the servicing at Al Tayer Motors for 4 years was a pleasant experience so far. After the three years free servicing package I got an additional 2 year service package for 4.2K last year. During the service period Al Tayer will replace almost all wear and tear parts such as the battery, wipers, lights etc except for the tyres. They have a good customer service lounge and also Land Rover / Jaguar / Lincoln / Maserati Showrooms are close to each other so I always love to check out other cars.
During the 4 year tenure period I met with 3 accidents. 2 accidents with mistake from my end where I directly rear ended one nissan sunny and another toyota camry. With my first accident I was quite shocked as the sunny's back was totally squashed whereas the front of my car was like nothing happened to it. Only minor bruises to the number plate and few scrathes.
My Second accident was when a Mitsubishi Lancer rear ended me with great force. I was taken aback when that happened and we drove a little ahead to assess the damage. But again I was shocked as nothing literally happened. I just saw a small scratch from the rear ended cars number plate guard and I was like wondering what really happened.
My third Accident again was a major one which was with a Sharjah Taxi Toyota Camry. The camry's back got totally squashed just like the sunny's but much worse but then again the ford was very strong. None of the parts in the front was dislocated, the front grill got a bit cracked and the radiator was leaking. I was able to drive the car to the nearest service centre and Al Tayer fixed the car within 10 days span time which includes the insurance process as well. The car is built very solid with all such experiences that I had.
So this is my experience with the Ford Edge and I hope it helps few peeps out here. Wish all a very wonderful day and hope that you get to ride the car / bike of your choice.
Below is a brochure of the car for further info and the first page shows my car color.
