I currently live in Kansas, and it sucks. It sucked before, but we just passed a bill that essentially defines us out of existence, and makes discrimination standard practice. They also fell only a handful of votes short of overturning the veto on an even worse bill.

My friend is planning to move to Albuquerque to get away from it, and I'm thinking about joining him. I've been planning on leaving ever since they first introduced the bills, but at the time I was looking at Chicago. I wouldn't know anyone there though, and I'd rather not start from square zero in a brand new city for the second time in 6 years (I'm not originally from Kansas). He's briefly mentioned the idea of me tagging along, and I'm considering it.

So, to my fellow trans people, is it actually even any better there, or would we just be hoping it'll be better in vain?
