“Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another” – G.K. Chesterton Here we discuss The Great Books and other art forms, share best practices for pursuing a Classical Education and help others to understand the immense value of a traditional Liberal Arts education. Education should be about so much more than just making money, it should also teach people how to live well and to love that which is most beautiful. Our sub exists to promote these ideas.

Today Bill Lee announced a “sweeping” plan to fund “improvements to school security in Tennessee.” In addition to $140 million for a school resource officer in every public school, they announced a plan to budget $20 million for public school security upgrades and $7 million for private school security upgrades.

https://fox17.com/news/local/the-covenant-school-gun-violence-sro-tennessee-governor-announces-sweeping-new-measures-for-school-safety

For the 2023 school year, there are 588 private schools serving 106,278 students in Tennessee (there are 1,881 public schools, serving 984,326 students).

https://www.privateschoolreview.com/tennessee

If you do the math, which I did, the funding for school security upgrades comes out to the following:

Private schools - $65.86 per student

Public schools - $20.31 per student

Yes, they are going to provide more than triple the funds per student for private schools to upgrade security than they are for the public schools. Welcome to Tennessee.
