Posts about Animal Crossing: New Horizons
While it is possible to get a native framerate (30fps) it isn’t 100% consistent. Areas with frame-drops include parts of the museum and Happy-Home Paradise Island. Other than that, your framerate should remain at a consistent 28-30 fps (assuming you have the shaders cached) And another thing, this guide will NOT give out any sort of link to any copy of the game, Google is your friend in that regard. With that out of the way, let’s begin the guide!
For this guide you’ll need
EmuDeck Installed or Yuzu (as Ryujinx is too focused on accuracy)
A copy of AC:NH (DLC and Updates optional, but highly recommended)
plenty of patience
The way EmuDeck sets Yuzu up is pretty much perfect for what we need, however, here are the options for those who don’t want to go down the EmuDeck route:
GENERAL
The following boxes should be ticked:
Limit Speed Percent (100%)
Multicore CPU Emulation
Extended memory layout
Hide mouse on inactivity
SYSTEM
Nothing here should be touched, however if you’re interested in time traveling, you can tick the ‘Custom RTC’ option and change the date and time in game!
CPU
Accuracy should be set to Auto
GRAPHICS
Under the Graphics tab the options should be as follows:
API: Vulkan
Use disk pipeline cache should be ticked
Use asynchronous GPU emulation should be ticked
Accelerate ASTC texture decoding should be ticked
NVDEC emulation: GPU Video Decoding
Fullscreen Mode: Exclusive Fullscreen
Aspect Ratio: This is up to you, 16:9 is default but won’t cover the entire screen, Force 16:10 fixes this, but stretches the image
Resolution: 1.0X (720p/1200p)
Window Adapting Filter: Nearest Neighbor
Anti-Aliasing Method: None
ADVANCED GRAPHICS
Under the Advanced tab in Graphics, the options should be as follows:
Accuracy Level: Normal
Force Maximum clocks (Vulkan) should be checked
Use asynchronous shader building (Hack) should be checked
Use fast GPU Time (Hack) should be checked
Usr Vulkan pipeline cache should be checked
MAKE SURE ‘Use per-game profile’ IS CHECKED
I recommend these settings within Gaming-Mode, these aren’t necessary but do help with frame-stutters!
Framerate Limit: Off
Refresh Rate: 60
Allow Tearing should be enabled
Manual GPU Clock Control: 1000 (thank you u/wearedefined)
Scaling Filter: Linear
(thanks to u/iJoanx for this tip) If you have the Powertools plugin installed via Decky, it’s recommended that you turn SMT off, this will reduce load times and keep your fps at a constant 30!l
How to Play Online (NOTE: This only works with players who are also using Yuzu, you will not be able to connect to a switch through this method)
Add Yuzu to Steam (make sure to apply the same Per-Game Settings that you applied to Animal Crossing)
Hold the ‘Steam’ button and use the right trackpad to navigate down to the bottom right corner, click the ‘Connect to a Room’ button
Select any room (as long as your friend is connected to the same room)
Opek the Steam Button Menu and close both the Room Window and the Room Browser Window
Open AC:NH through Yuzu
Open your airport/visit your friends! (please remember to set a DoDo Code if you want to make sure your session is private!)
Thank you for reading through this entire guide! I hope this helps you get better performance on your islands! Here’s some photos of it running on my Deck with the performance overlay!
