Since I received my SteamDeck I am enjoying browsing this subreddit from time to time. And most of all I always really look forward to Show-Off Wednesday in particular the most.

I found joy looking at photos of others using their SteamDeck in interesting places or just the curious ways the SD can be used.It is „just“ a PC afterall.

Because the way I use my SteamDeck is kind of different than usual, I decided to show it here too.Someone might find it interesting, maybe. Most of the time we can see people here showing different ways of playing games, emulation and so on (just to note it is perfectly fine and I enjoy that too).

So in the photo my SD is connected to a USB-C docking station (standing via a 3D printed clip-on stand) where all the peripherals are connected.

For me, SteamDeck is a full replacement for all my desktop workflow.I even sold my desktop PC because everything I was doing there can be done on the SD too.

One such specific thing for me is amateur photography.

To edit RAW photos, my photoeditor of choice is the Open Source program Darktable, which is more than enough for my photoediting needs. On the main monitor is the Darktable program, where I edit photos. I am using the SD screen as a second monitor for anything else – in this case viewing files on an external drive connected to the docking station.

And of course, I use it as "gaming console“ among other things.I travel to and from work every day for about 2 hours by public transport…So SD is the ideal way to spend long journeys on the tram (beside reading books).

Even though I don't have a wife or kids yet, I have a girlfriend that I try to maintain a healthy relationship with (she's not much of a gamer) besides I'm doing a lot of other things – Life of an Adult huh… so I don't have as much time to play games as I used to.When I was younger, I typically spent close to 6 hours a day playing games. Carefree youth indeed lol.

SteamDeck is absolutely revolutionary for me – despite having access to a gaming laptop and having a full blown desktop PC (which I sold haha), before the SD I barely managed to stack 1-2 hours of play time in a whole week. Now I can take the SteamDeck to the couch, press a button and play almost immediately. And when I have to leave, I press the button again and continue on with other life's activities.

BTW – I am from Czech Republic and looking for SteamDeck friends here.
