Zcash is the first permission-less, decentralized, and open sourced cryptocurrency that can fully protect the privacy of user wallet holdings and transactions, while providing an encrypted memo character field, using zero-knowledge cryptography. Zcash is viewed as an improvement over other cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin or Dogecoin, which expose the user's complete wallet balance and payments history to the on the public ledger.

Have been following Zcash for quite some time and now Namada as I didn’t realize Namada is built upon Zcash’s tech. For those (like myself until now) Namada is an L1 multichain privacy protocol that uses the ZK tech used by Zcash. Namada’s cryptography enables any asset (fungible and non-fungible) to be transacted privately. Its most known feature is its multi-shielded asset pool meaning that all assets share one anonymity set and so provides consistent privacy and security for multichain users.

In my opinion, as a privacy-advocate, an alliance of this kind (two hard-hitting privacy - chains) could be an absolute gamechanger. It is only to the merit of the blockchain industry that such collaboration is celebrated and rewarded. As an extra bonus both ZEC and NAM (once NAM is listed) value will 🚀 - good info for all you investors out there!

The proposed alliance means that Zcash and Namada could intertwine and boost their respective communities and that there’ll be joint research development across several technical arms; cross-chain bridging, proof-of-stake mechanism design, and shielded multisignature accounts. I believe this looks very promising for both ecosystems especially as Namada is built upon Zcash’s technology and so within this alliance Namada wants to look into the ways in which retroactive and proactive funding mechanisms can further develop the Zcash ecosystem.

I’m particularly curious as how to a “Namada <3 Zcash's grants pool may work as I haven’t come across collaborative grants programs in this sphere. Moreover, I’m keen to see how such an alliance will accelerate the development of ZK privacy as well as how this will work in terms of its governance structure. Unusual to see this amount of collaboration between projects but this certainly shows that both Zcash and Namada are values-driven and are serious in preserving the privacy of all blockchain users. Likewise it’s great to see a project giving back and paying homage to where its technical origins came from.

Have summarized my thoughts, hbu? Wdyt?
