My boyfriend (20M) and I (21F) have been dating for a little over a year now. Recently, I’ve been thinking about our relationship and whether I should move on.

Something that’s been bothering me a lot:

My boyfriend was seeing this girl pretty much right before we went on our first date, which was early March 2022. He slept with her in between our first and second date (I didn’t know about this until months later). That night that he slept with her, he allegedly touched her sexually without her consent.

My boyfriend and I started dating exclusively around early April.

He and the girl got into an verbal argument backstage for a play they were doing together at that time. When I inquired about it, he told me he didn’t remember what it was even about. Shortly after that conflict, she released the news that he sexually assaulted her in early March.

He told me his version of events: That he invited her over to his house to sleep, and in the early morning, he touched her leg. He told me that he didn’t touch her sexually, just felt up her leg. He reacted to the allegation badly of course. He lost several friends and grieved a lot. When I’ve questioned him on it, he’s taken offence at my skepticism. But it kills me that I never heard her side. He told me that she was overdramatising what happened. He told me she was jealous, and emotionally abusive.

And I believed him, it’s been over a year. And now I can’t stop thinking about it. I never got her side of the story. I feel a tremendous amount of guilt. What do I do? Has anyone been in a similar situation?
