What's stopping a billionaire from starting a college and creating a super team with NIL?

Let's say Jeff Bezos started Amazon University and funded athletics called the "Amazon Primes". Every student-athlete would just be advertisements for Amazon and each get paid like $500k/year or so.

How is this not illegal or even possible?

Redshirt freshman shouldn't be eligible for any "Freshman of the Year" awards. Change my mind.

There's a huge difference between an academic sophomore who's had a full year at the college - with all major advantages that brings, and a true freshman. Not to mention players can play in five games and still reserve their redshirt. Either RsFr shouldn't be eligible for such awards or they should just start calling it "First Year Starter of the Year" or something similar.

Hawai’i nei. When I think of Hawaii football, I think of a rich state-wide sporting culture that manifests as 11 warriors flying around the football field. Hawaii’s had an up and down, but very proud, football history. Going 0-12 in 1998 to subsequent 9-4 and 3-9 records the following years might be a perfect microcosm of Rainbow Warrior football. For me, and I’m sure for a lot of other fans, the Colt Brennan Hawaii teams in ‘06 and ‘07 were some of the funnest teams to ever watch, and I look forward to watching games in the new Aloha Stadium once complete.
