I’m taking my 75-year-old dad who does not travel AT ALL on a trip to the U.K., because it is the one place he has always wanted to go. It’s basically a once in a lifetime father/daughter trip. He doesn’t really have any luggage, but I have enough stuff I’m not really planning on buying anything new. He does have a laptop bag that he is partial to (I’m sure he’ll bring at least an iPad and his handheld ham radio because there is a treaty that enables him to transmit from the U.K., and he is very excited about this).

He doesn’t really have back issues, but he does have pretty unpleasant diabetic neuropathy in his feet, so even though he said he could carry a backpack, I’m thinking the best course of action would probably be to give him my carry on roller, and he can use his laptop bag with it. And then I will pack myself as lightly as humanly possible into a backpack so that I can handle all of it if/when I need to.

Any thoughts/experiences in a similar situation?

Does anyone have experience with this product? It’s MFi-certified and has fast-charging for recent Apple Watch models, which is important to me. One of the reviews says it gets too hot, but I didn’t see that mentioned in any other review.

Can anyone comment on whether the fast charging works as well as Apple’s charger, whether it gets too hot, and how much it weighs?

Do you have any other product recommendations that serve the same function? I’ve tried the Maco Go (10g weight), but it charges too slowly to use during the day (they do apparently have an upcoming one that promises to charge quickly).

Looking for a water bottle that holds as much as possible while being at most 6 inches tall (so it’s easy to wash in a bathroom sink). Ideas?

Bellroy? Aer? Something else? Can't seem to find a bag that fits my needs.

Been around with bags, a disease at this point.

Been using the Bellroy Transit Workpack (20L) for a while now. It works because:

It's lightweight.
Zippers are smooth, materials are soft, and compartments are buttery to interact with, yet durable.
Practical, fits all my needs and gives me more space than I need.

It doesn't work because:

There's no strap for luggage handles on the back, making travel a bit inconvenient.
Has a little too much space for my needs. I would love a 16-18L version with slightly smaller dimensions.

Thought I'd try out the Aer Pro Pack 20L, but was disappointed. While it's spacious, functional for most people and a lot of my needs, and padding is fantastic:

I forgot how rigid and stiff their bags are. While this "durability" is needed for some, I'm just going in and out of meetings in the city and some travel here and there. I need to practically wrestle with the bag to get anything in and out (slight exaggeration) due to its stiffness.
Zippers are no where close to how buttery smooth zippers are on the Bellroy bag.
It's bulkier than I imagined, bulkier than the Bellroy, I wanted something smaller, not bigger or bulkier.
Has way more compartments than I need.
Not to anyone's fault, but as it was an international order, it's a final sale.
