Any help is appreciated because I have never done any work like this before.

Motor was noisy, took it apart and saw the bearing went bad on the spindle (evaporator?) side that blows cool air. The other side of the motor/spindle runs the outside fan which seems fine still.

The inside/evaporator side has the red rubber seal and the rust. The condenser side has the metal washer and no rust, along with grease that is still there.

Anyone know if this was initially made correctly? Should both sides have had a metal washer as well as the red rubber one? I am trying to avoid replacing the bearing for it to fail in a year in the same manner.

Also is there a specific oil type or product anyone can recommend to use to lube the new bearings?
