I accepted a job offer from a company in a parts warehouse, today I was doing my on boarding for the company. We get to the drug test part, it's an initial test to get hired then they say they do random tests. The job posting only stated you had to pass a pre employment drug screen. After completing all the paperwork the recruiter asked if I was ready for my drug screening, I said yes, so we went to the office of the on site drug tester. They were out of the office on lunch. The recruiter then tells me that they will call me after my background check comes through and they can just test me on my first day. Which I agreed to. I feel they would call me after my background check is approved to take a test, since I've told them I will be giving a proper 2 weeks notice at my current employer, just to avoid waiting another 2 weeks to make sure I can pass the screening. The state I live in (NV) has recreational and medical Marijuana. I do have a medical condition that qualifies but I don't have a medical card because of recreational Marijuana. I have a few questions about the random drug test because I've worked 2 places that did random drug testing but it was only if you appeared to be under the influence or injured/involved in an accident. Also the position I accepted would mostly be in the warehouse. I would be new to this particular industry so I'm not sure how much I would have to use equipment like a pallet jack, forklifts, hand carts, and 1 week out of the month I would be on call and possibly have to use a company vehicle. This was all explained in the interview. There is an age minimum to work for the company because of the insurance for the company fleet. Does anybody know if an insurance company can give a company a "quota" of how many random tests they have to do in a certain time frame? Would I have an issue if I had my medical card and I tested positive for Marijuana? I was expecting an initial drug test but they didn't mention random tests until I had signed a bunch of paperwork including an nda. In my experience working for 2 companies that said they did random tests I was only tested to get the job, I was injured at one job and required surgery but was never tested. I only consume Marijuana at night to go to sleep, I show up sober and ready to work. I don't want to quit a secure job only to have an issue at a better job because of this. Any help is appreciated
