Hey guys. I just had a comment removed for “attacking” someone and I’m very sorry that’s how it came across. I was maybe aggressive to the doctor’s treatment suggestion but it was because I was alarmed. Glaucoma runs in my family. I have borderline ocular pressure. There are eye drops to treat this and I was very concerned that a person’s relative’s doctor said that the patient had to lose weight or go blind.

I would just encourage everyone to follow Ragen Chastain’s advice of asking, “What would you do if a skinny person came in with this problem?”

Lots of times, fat people have worse outcomes in many areas because weight loss is the first rec out of the gate and it’s often years later that their actual problem is appropriately addressed.

I’m sorry if the person who made that comment (or anyone who read it) felt attacked. That was not my intention. I was reacting strongly to the doctor’s suggestion and guess it came out wrong.

Please advocate for yourself in medical spaces and bring someone along if you feel like you can’t.
