Now you could say, this is not fair, Marianne Williamson just wants to abuse fairness norms to ride Joe Biden's coattails onto TV, not become powerful like Trajan. I'm a simple man. If this is the case, she can publicly explain it to me me in her own words as if I were a child.

To be clear, Marianne Williamson's stated agenda is she should be the most powerful person on earth from 2025 to 2029 or longer, joining a historical list that includes people like Alexander, Trajan, and Napoleon. Some people might express negative opinions about this!

"Run for President" should not be a little button you can press to get a bunch of free publicity with no downsides. I can see why Yang, in particular, holds this view, but sorry, no.

It's true. My summer camp would frequently have to keep me indoors when I was a kiddo. The upside was that the camp had Star Wars and we just watched that a lot.

20 years ago it was common for the DC area to have two dozen days every summer with Code Red air quality, like today. They've almost completely disappeared, thanks to federal anti-pollution regulation that works. mwcog.org/newsroom/2022/

Oh hi I'm an alien who behaves in a manner compatible with the views of UFO theorists. That is to say, I am competent enough to do interstellar travel, but then I crash my ship and die every time for some reason when faced with the task of terrestrial flight

1. Nobody allows new construction in my neighborhood, limiting the number of people who can live here. 2. There's an uptick in murder, thievery, and assault, often perpetrated by people with many prior arrests. This may make neighborhoods like mine less popular going forward.

I live in a very convenient location. My family drives just 1 mile per capita per day on weekdays, and our utility bills are low because of shared walls. My style of living is conducive to low carbon emissions, which many care about. However! Two problems:

Not much room for discourse about the smog. The air is yellow. I don't want the air to be yellow. We can do some Canada jokes. Not much more to say, really. Pretty lame topic.

I'm very glad we millennials buried "wasssup" in shame and agreed to Never Do That Again before the Zoomers came along. Imagine how owned we'd be if they found out about it. They'd know what losers we were.

There are some people I personally will not acknowledge as candidates for the presidency. It's not a policy thing, it's that I refuse to let them hack my speech by nominally inserting themselves into a category in which they don't belong.

Newly introduced legislation by House Ways & Means Committee Chair Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) is a warning shot at a component of a multilateral treaty brokered through the OECD known as the Undertaxed Profits Rule (UTPR). 🧵 The latest from :

All right, enough is enough with this smog situation. It’s time to invade Canada. Obviously, the main force operates out of Syracuse NY and cuts off Toronto from the St. Lawrence. We will restore order.

Many fake aliens are fantastic! But imagine casting aside ET and Spock and Chewbacca because they don't nurse your conspiratorial but very terrestrial "THEY don't want you to know about it" feelings. Sad!

Is it sufficient to add a bunch of caveats and still post about the claim anyway? No, not really. While this remains technically within the bounds of sound epistemology, you're allowing your account to be functionally "hacked" and making it less interesting to me.

You, personally (yes! you!) have some responsibility not to repeat outlandish or unlikely claims made without extraordinary proof. This is especially true if it's a claim people seem to have tons of fun making, since that means the number of false claims is likely to be high.

And then there's of course the possibility that something MUCH zanier than 2020-2022 happens, and it so happens to put an upward shock on interest rates that's even more massive than the COVID-Ukraine duo. But 2020-2022 was objectively quite zany.

I'm surviving the first two years of this bet with , but by a much narrower margin than I had thought. The pathway for an early L is something like: - Trump screws up 2024, another Dem trifecta - Budget hawks on the center left are marginalized

Look, if you are unhappy with how Democrats do things, there are very normal Jeb-type people around you could support like Adults. But when Jeb or Romney or 2016-Rubio were around, they were nowhere to be found. This suggests these people aren't anti-Democrat, just pro-nitwit.

For an example of fake productivity, a university staffed as follows: In 2019, 1 administrator, 1 professor, and 1 cleaner. 2020, 1 administrator and 1 professor. 2022, 1 administrator, 1 professor, and 1 cleaner. Measured productivity rose 50% in 2020, then fell again.

One way to help on this front is to stop rejecting comparative advantage. We have dumb-dumbs in charge who would rather build one aircraft and 200,000 tons of steel than build two aircraft and trade one aircraft for 300,000 tons of steel. This mechanically reduces productivity.

...and a secondary cause of this is a composition effect; we're employing close to a record high percentage of people. The people on the margins of the labor force aren't going to immediately shift from being NEETs to being aerospace engineers.

This is worth talking about, but not as bad as it looks. The primary cause of this is the 2020 productivity gain is fake. We canceled lots of work and dramatically changed what many service products looked like, and the BLS wasn't capable of adjusting for it appropriately...

In seriousness, the fancy strategist take is this is an issue salience moment: he’s always been too old, and playing up the incident provokes more discussion of a legitimate downside.

Prior to today, I thought Joe Biden might be an agile style of 80-year-old with a mountain goat’s dexterity, one who would never trip embarrassingly. This is a real category of person I believe exists. But sadly, it doesn’t include Joe Biden, as I learned today.
