I see Dan get a lot of hate which is unfortunate because he is my favorite guy on the pod. When he’s missing the show misses a certain quality of having a legitimate host that can Segway from topic to topic

But mostly I love Dan because he often pushes back at Gregg especially but also Marc and some of the guest (especially Claybon) when they go on weird random rants/hot takes that don’t make a lot of sense.

I think the other 2 co-hosts and most of the guest get caught up in the NFL media buzz circle a lot with certain players, Lamar Jackson being one recent example, and prop them up like they are Hall of Fame level talents and Dan always has the most rational outlook.

They do that with certain teams every year too like the saints or raiders last year who any normal fan could’ve told you weren’t going to be good but they devoted hours to each on the pod.

Dan feels like the most “real” and disconnected from the NFL media hype machine and i really appreciate that. He’s not perfect but he’s the best we got

Something I've noticed about Patrick Claybon

Has anyone else appreciated how Patrick seems to be on a first-name basis with almost every player in the league? I feel like for years since he's been a guest on the show, he's almost always referring to "Tyreek, Jaylen, Dak", etc.

I will say, it does get confusing sometimes when he talks about how "Davante" has really upped his game and I'm sitting there like "yeah which one?"

Nothing against the guy, I love Patrick's insights, he's just the only guy I've listened to in sports journalism that does this and I found it pretty interesting.

Who has benefited more from there being no more producer camera angles than Drew? Dan hasn't taken a single shot ever since then.

It was all a ploy to permanently fade into the background like he always wanted.

Absolutely Machiavellian from Drew. I almost have to respect the machinations to pull this off.

Unpopular Take…

…it was nice listening to an analysis-driven episode like Spiciest Player for Every Team without The Zeuser stepping on his cohosts with some type of jazz hands/finger guns every time they opened their mouth to speak, to no one’s entertainment except himself.

Honestly…it was noticeable how Gregg, Marc and Patrick were able to finish thought strands without being interrupted. It was nice, ngl.

I’ve said it before in this sub…since Wess passed, Dan seems to behave like he’s the tastemaker of the show nowadays, but his analysis has always been mid — not awful, but also not superlative — and I’m being sincere when I say it was a treat to take in an episode without his particular energy.
