Infrastructure Engineer (Engineer II)

LOCATION: Remote within the U.S.
Salary range: $125,250-140,500

We are seeking a passionate Infrastructure Engineer who will deliver new features in the Services team on a large Rails application. This person must be efficient, self-motivated, and capable of working with limited guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable high-quality backend services and productivity tools
  • Proactively work to identify areas for performance gains including data and scaling challenges.
  • Partner with the engineering team in building best-in-class interface
  • Share on-call responsibilities with team
  • Remain current on test, development, and deployment best practices
  • Be a team player, share knowledge, and mentor other team members through pairing, feedback, and discussions, etc.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience developing ci/cd pipelines, debugging distributed systems, building and maintaining environments from local through production and building robust monitoring systems.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in data infrastructure

Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS (or other major public cloud infrastructure) deployments, RDS, ElastiCache
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with Kubernetes @ scale
  • Exceptional operational troubleshooting capabilities
  • Interest in working on monitoring systems for backend which is currently written in Ruby.
  • Strong linux skills
  • Ability to thrive in a small team culture with lots of agency requiring strong self-discipline, time management, and strong communication skills.

This position is a 40 hour/week, full-time exempt position and reports to the Managing Staff Engineer. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Account Manager: Political & Advocacy Advertising

Daily Kos is hiring a full-time Account Manager to work collaboratively with an Account Executive on the sales team to support and drive the revenue business. In this role, you will be responsible for working with political organizations, nonprofits, and advocacy groups to meet their advertising and organizing objectives and effectively reach their target audiences. In addition, you will be responsible for working in tandem with an Account Executive in order to manage and own the client relationship post-sale.

Working closely with an Account Executive partner, the Account Manager will fulfill sold advertising and lead generation deals by executing paid campaigns, growing lists, ad trafficking, and collecting creative materials for campaigns. The AM will be the central point of contact for all customer service management including answering client questions and engaging on active paid campaigns. This role will focus on managing paid digital campaigns, and also upselling products or add-on services that make sense based on the client’s objectives. This role requires strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, the AM should be motivated to meet sales quotas and larger organizational revenue goals, while keeping clients happy and well tended to.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have a professional business mindset and the ability to operate in a fast-paced yet collaborative and team-oriented environment. Our offices are in Oakland, CA, and Washington, D.C.; however, we are open to fully remote applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Seamlessly take over and manage sold paid advertising and lead generation campaigns as they are passed over from the Account Executive.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with active clients who are running paid campaigns. Provide timely responses, ensure their campaigns are running as booked, and regularly provide updates and optimization ideas for success.
  • Ensure all required materials and assets are properly collected from clients to ensure campaigns can launch on time.
  • Utilize internal tools and CRMs to track client communications, updates and any relevant sales activity.
  • Brainstorm and propose new ideas and additional products or services that could help active clients to achieve their goals. Renewing, upselling and targeted prospecting is an important part of this role.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to clients so they can regularly understand that their goals are being met as promised.
  • Be a positive representative of the Daily Kos brand in the marketplace.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills by handling challenging situations and overcoming roadblocks.
  • Meet and exceed quarterly revenue goals.
  • Work collaboratively with your Account Executive as well as other internal departments towards common goals.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a digital communications or advertising sales support and/or customer service role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current news landscape.
  • Some experience working within the political, nonprofit, or advocacy space.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $86,000 + commissions
