So I watched covenant last night having a few days previously watched Prometheus. As a sequel to the first film I suppose it wasn’t bad. It’s a shame they killed off Elizabeth, she was probably the best character other than David in Prometheus in my opinion. Despite the disappointment in her killing off, her character wasn’t completely wasted and at least in her death she was used to move the story forward.

David’s costume when the colonists first meet him wasn’t very good, nor were the special effects for the aliens throughout the film. Soundtrack wasn’t as good as Prometheus’ nor were the visuals overall. The female lead for the colonists wasn’t a bad character, best of them all I think, the rest were forgettable.

Worst scene in the film for me was the fight on the roof of the transport ship, it felt like something out of an uncharted game, swinging on ropes and then trying to trap the alien in the crane claw. Not sure what they were thinking with that scene.

I did enjoy the sequence were we see David killing what appeared to be smaller engineers, not sure if they were actual engineers or not. I didn’t enjoy Walter all that much, David a far superior character, the flute scene, well that was a thing.

I did enjoy the ending though, would have been terrifying to be in the female leads shoes realising she had let the genocidal Android on the ship and that he was going to be in control. I did somewhat like the origin of the alien, atleast we have some sort of answer. An Android with a god complex is a pretty interesting idea, not a new idea by all means but I’m glad Ridley Scott attempted to tackle the idea.

Overall I had a somewhat good time with the film, it had been years since I last watched it and my most recent viewing left a better impression. 7/10
