I just had a sparring with a friend of mine in Muay Thai. We were both having a great time sparring and doing different techniques with each other and on our third round one of his friends tagged along. I've seen some of his friends sparring with him too and they have their own gloves too but I noticed when they spar they couldn't even do proper jabs and hooks so i just thought they're just beginners which they are. And then after me and my friend finished our rounds we then moved on to one of his friends. He sparred them first and after them it was my turn. Me and one of my friend's friends touched gloves and started to spar. Then I was shocked that his friend was going hard on me. So I countered with a light punch to inform him that this is just a light sparring. When he still continued doing hard hits I then asked my friend "Hey this is just a light spar right?" And then my friend said out loud "Yeah it's just a light spar" for his other friend to know too. Then I got really annoyed when this dude still did hard punches on me. Then when I finally had enough I countered hard attacks on him too but i didn't throw a hundred percent because it's too dangerous so maybe I just did like 70-80% which is still hard but I just wanted to inform him that this is what he was asking for. Then he was shocked and was unable to counter because I landed many powerful shots and a powerful kick. I then told him "don't go hard this is just a light spar" then he made his attacks weaker and then we continued to spar until the time finished. When I got home I thought maybe he was just not taught of what proper light sparring is.
