Modded Minecraft

Hiya, just a quick post to mention that my mod that used to be a simple mod written in a couple days using 1 class for 1.12.2 is now a terrifyingly complex mod written over the period of a couple months using 50+ classes for Forge 1.4.7, Forge 1.7.10, Forge 1.12.2, Fabric 1.16.5, Forge 1.16.5, Fabric 1.17.1, Forge 1.17.1, Fabric 1.18.2, Forge 1.18.2, Fabric 1.19.2, Forge 1.19.2, Fabric 1.19.4, and Forge 1.19.4, and I ended up needing to write/maintain not one but two custom pieces of tooling to get everything working. But it's finally pretty much in a publishable state and I hope you enjoy it.

What this clientside mod does is put you in F5 third-person mode when you enter a boat or ride a horse, and put you in first-person again when you leave. Because I think it's a lot nicer to use boats in that camera mode, and one day after the 7 millionth time pressing F5 while navigating my friend's server's river system in a boat I got annoyed enough to write a mod about it.

I know it's not very exciting-sounding; wish I had time to write more interesting mods instead of fielding port requests. But honestly it's a little more interesting than it sounds. I like it a lot.

A lot of things are configurable, like whether this effect also happens when you go swimming. There's also some assorted vehicle- and camera- related goodies that you might find convenient to configure:

• option to remove the "first-person reversed" view, leaving only the rear view

• (1.7.10, 1.4.7) fix the "hand glitch", where if you render someone who is sitting down (e.g. viewing your inventory while riding a boat) your first-person hand points inwards

• (1.4.7) backport pressing Shift to dismount your vehicle... why not

This new version also includes a keybind which can temporarily enable and disable the mod 🙌
