How do hosts (DMs) handle food and drink at your place?

Just curious what you do for food/drink at your place when DMing.

The short of it is I have 5 adult players. Three sessions in and my bill for providing food and drink is close is over $250. We’re all professionals, making 65k a year or more so it’s not like we’re young teenagers or students who aren’t able to work.

Is it appropriate to get a “beer and pizza” fund together or something of the sort? How do you broach that subject?

Or is the onus on the host to provide for everyone?

Playing DND for 20 years and I always either brought my own food/drink or the DM provided coffee and we eventually started to starve so we ordered pizza.

Any thoughts on addressing this or am I just being a cheapskate?

Edit: Wow, thanks for all the insight and making me feel like less of a cheapskate, along with sharing your own experiences in making food/drink work for your parties. I’ll establish some Guidelines next session and will do so at session zero going forward.

The comment that “the host needs to cook because they have the kitchen” sorta blindsided me but was good for a chuckle.

For me, it's rockstar fruit punch, has 61g of carbs/sugar but can take me out of a severe low and will have to dose for it a couple of times to bring it down

NK keeps putting her food in MY drink

Advice Needed: Replies from All

Title is pretty self explanatory... if I’m sitting with NK (5yo) at dinner and leave the table for even a minute (to get her something or go to the toilet) she’ll put her food in my drink or spit her drink into mine...

I like to use natural consequences but I don’t know what that would be in this case. Obviously I’m not going to take away her dinner, but I feel like just removing my glass from the equation isn’t completely resolving the issue of her not respecting other people’s things. I know it sounds silly, but I don’t want to have to have to carry around my water/tea with me into the toilet or wherever I’m going.

I can’t tell if she’s just trying to get a reaction from me, and normally I’ll just tell her it’s rude and unkind, but I don’t make it a big production. When I express my displeasure she laughs and thinks it’s hilarious.

Anyways, I know it’s a silly problem to have I just thought I’d see what everyone thinks. Thanks!
