Hello reddit!

I'm Anjali Bhimani! You might know me as Auntie Ruby in Ms. Marvel, Symmetra in Overwatch, Rampart in Apex Legends, Fy'ra Rai on Critical Role, and - most recently - as Lady Amangeaux Epiceé du Peche on Dropout.tv's Dimension 20: The Ravening War (click here for the trailer, and here for the first full episode on Youtube)

It's been an honor to be part of so many brilliant creative endeavors, and I can't wait to do more! (you'll also see me soon on Critical Role's investigative horror series, Candela Obscura)

I'm here to answer your questions - about Dimension 20: The Ravening War, my work on Critical Role, and anything else you'd like to talk about. Ask me anything! @sweeetanj on the socials! (remember: that's 3 "e"s). And if you want to know more about my life than I can fit in this AMA, you might wanna check out my book - I Am Fun Size, and So Are YOU!

Edit 3:05pm Pacific: It's been so lovely talking to you all, but I've gotta run! Let's do this again sometime!

Hello Reddit, I've been around here for a while and have seen some posts lately that could use the input from someone actually in the field of consumer protection. Of the government agencies, consumer protection and weights & measures consistently gets top scores for "do we really need this program". Everyone likes making sure they aren't cheated! It's also one of the oldest occupations since the Phoenicians developed the alphabet and units of measure for trade. From the cubit to the pound to the kilo, weights and measures has been around.

I am actually getting ready for a community outreach event with my department today and thought this would be a great way to test my knowledge and answer some questions. My daily responsibilities include testing gas pumps, certifying truck scales and grocery scales, price verification inspections, and checking packaging and labeling of consumer commodities. There are many things out there most people probably don't even know gets routinely checked.. laundry dryer timers? Aluminum can recyclers? Home heating oil trucks? Try me!

Edit: I'm getting busy at work but will answer all questions later tonight!

Edit: I caught up with more questions. Our event yesterday went great! Thanks!

I wanted to add from another W&M related topic I saw on Reddit a few weeks ago, since all of you seem to be pretty interested in this stuff. Let's talk ice cream! Ice cream is measured in volume. Why? Because there is an exemption in the statutes that the method of sale is volume and not weight, due to lobbying from the industry. That's why the market is flooded now with air-whipped "ice cream". Many industries have their own lobbies that affect how these things are enforced. Half of the handbooks we use are exemptions some industry lobbied for.

Hi Reddit!

My name is Derek! I’ve been testing mattresses since 2014 and over the years I’ve tested 268+ different mattresses.

I am the original owner & Founder of Sleepopolis.com, where I operated it from 2014 to 2017.

In 2021, I launched a new platform at NapLab.com to test mattresses. At NapLab I developed a battery of objective & data-driven tests to analyze and score mattresses. Our testing process includes:

  • Thermal imagery to assess cooling / heat retention

  • Accelerometer to measure motion transfer

  • 5 factor weighted equation to assess sex performance

  • Video / photo analysis to take precise & objective measurements for sinkage, material responsiveness, edge support, and bounce

Thank you everyone for writing in – this has been a great discussion! I hope to be able to revisit the conversation later this week. If you are interested in learning more about my work please follow me on Twitter @garjoh_canuck, on LinkedIn, or visit my website for links to my research https://www.garjoh.com.

I’m Garrett Johnson, an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Boston University's Questrom School of Business. My research on Internet marketing examines online display advertising: the medium’s effectiveness and privacy issues. My ad effectiveness research uses large-scale experiments to measure how and how much ads work. My privacy research quantifies the value of online behavioral targeting to industry and considers the impact of policy & self-regulatory approaches. I work with Internet companies—including Google and Yahoo!—to answer these questions with Internet-scale data.

Ask me anything about:

  • Why and how exactly do ads track you online?

  • What are browser cookies? How are they used?

  • How effective are online display ads?

  • Why and how should you run experiments to measure the effects of online ads?

  • What is the economic impact of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

  • What is the future of online advertising without browser cookies?

  • What was the impact of the 2020 YouTube settlement (i.e., the "COPPAcalypse") on made-for- kids content?
