As much as I'll miss it, I find it unethical to participate in a Twitter owned by a man mainstreaming literal fascists because free speech, yet who blocks me because I once tweeted something snarky about Tesla. So I'm stepping away while I decide whether to delete my account.

Weird that with Republicans running TV ads essentially accusing Democrats of murdering children that somebody might try to assassinate the Democratic Speaker of the House.

. joined this morning to announce this victory against price gouging and corporate collusion in the poultry industry. Research shows corporate profits accounted for 60% of the inflationary increases American families paid last year. Read more below >>

It's simple, he's a national security threat. He's playing footsie w Putin and, as this article points out, Saudi and Chinese owned companies. Letting Musk buy is insane

The problem with producing centrist, independent news that treats both sides equally is that such a format presupposes an equal commitment to facts and truth. Debate can then proceed based on the interpretation and emphasis put on those facts.

This is torn directly from Jim Crow, as were the migrant flights. DeSantis is officially America's most racist post-Civil Rights Act governor. But gas prices, amirite?
Quote Tweet
Tampa police carrying out the first arrests of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ new election security force were surprised and almost sympathetic. “I’ve never seen these charges before in my entire life,” one officer said. trib.al/oJIDNog

Fixed you're headline for you : "Voters overwhelmingly believe the American democracy is in danger, and 40% of them—the Republicans—think that's just great!"

I keep seeing these TV ads for Tiffany Smiley and Matt Larkin, and it's weird how they're not running on their fascism. It's almost as if their pollsters have convinced them that being themselves doesn't appeal to WA voters.

In a reflection of real world distributions, while we’re watching this scoreless snooze fest, in Jeff Bezos’s personal stream of Thursday Night Football the current score is Chicago 20,388,098,379, Washington 20,388,098,377. (The difference right now is a Wentz safety.)

I keep warning Jewish Republicans that the GOP has indeed become a fascist party and if they think their fellow GOPers won't ultimately turn on them, they don't understand Jewish history. These are National Christianists, and they're coming for us Jews.

Weird* how Republicans like DeSantis who want to shrink government to the size where they can drown it in a bathtub are suddenly huge fans of big guvmint bailouts once their own states are literally drowning. * (Not weird at all.)
Quote Tweet
Boy, that had to be tough for DeSantis to thank President Biden and all of the socialism helping his state at the moment. Whew.

8/ So, yeah, maybe inflation is a good thing, as long as it comes with corresponding wage increases for working Americans, even if that means higher prices over all. Maybe a repricing of our economy is exactly what we need. /end

7/ I dunno, it's just weird that we're supposed to accept as economic orthodoxy the necessary pain of a Fed interest rate hike induced recession and the joblessness it will bring, while any amount of pain from a bout of inflation is unquestionably unacceptable.

6/ In fact, it's fair to argue that over the long run a higher wage/higher cost economy would have been far more resilient and far less volatile than the efficiency-fetish economy in which we are in.

5/ And surely, had our global supply chain not been so efficient and global and cheap, perhaps we'd still have enough domestic economic capacity to prevent a global supply chain crisis from pushing domestic prices up so high so fast and for so long?

4/ Surely, much of the precarity in our current economy is the consequence of the relentless drive towards the kind of market "efficiencies" that are often credited with keeping prices low.

3/ Surely, decades of relatively low fuel prices have led to the popularity of inefficient SUVs and other large carbon emitting vehicles, while the recent spike in fuel prices has provided a major push to zero-carbon energy technologies.

2/ I mean, nobody likes to pay higher prices, but surely the consumer preference for low prices has played a major role in suppressing wages, particularly at the low end of the pay scale, as well as in pushing better paying manufacturing jobs overseas.

Think about this: because there's no tip penalty in WA, Seattle's minimum wage for tipped employees will be nearly NINE TIMES the federal $2.13 an hour (unchanged since 1991), and yet our restaurant and hotel industry is suffering from a labor shortage.
Quote Tweet
The Seattle minimum wage for most workers will be adjusted to $18.69/hour in 2023. So many of us are drowning amid soaring prices for rent, groceries, and gas—this automatic adjustment ensures we don't take a pay cut. twitter.com/OLS_SEA/status…

Also, fascinating to watch critics shift from "Minimum wage is bad because it's a job killer!" to "Minimum wage is bad because it's a job creator!" Progress?
