Shout out to @knoopy - he posted the link to his film here and mentioned how it got into SXSW and how he got signed off the back of that:

https://old.reddit.com/r/Screenwriting/comments/y50yqt/im_on_vimeo_staff_picks_signed_with_caa_anonymous/

Last week it was announced Jordan Peel and Riz Ahmed boarded the project as executive producers:

https://variety.com/2022/film/global/jordan-peele-riz-ahmed-moshari-nuhash-humayuns-1235440579/

He mentioned he couldn't get people to read his scripts in the US and he was here a year ago trying to get feedback through the Weekend Script swap but is now directing/writing a feature with Jordan Peele producing it.

I believe that sometimes you won't be able to sell your vision on paper, people will just think it's good and move on with their life. But once you have a finished product that people can see - it will be a lot easier for them to invest into it. Perhaps this is a push that some people need to make their own projects. I still think it's the best way, save some money, pick the best scene in your script and shoot it as a short/proof of concept and do the festival circuit and see what comes from that.
