I know that before Villeneuve fulfilled his long-sought dream project of doing Dune on-screen, Paramount tried to get their own version off the ground. At different times Pierre Morel and Peter Berg (both of which I know were fans of the books to some capacity) were attached to direct. Also I know Nicholas Winding Refn said he was not only interested in the lore surrounding Dune on and off screen but that he liked at least two previous versions of it and even toyed with the idea of doing it himself.

Does anyone know if either of these directors have seen Villeneuve’s version and if so what they think? I know that Lynch is unfortunately never going to see it (not cause he has any negative feelings towards Villeneuve or anyone working on it, but because working on his Dune was such a bad experience for him and he just wants to distance himself from it) and Jodorowsky probably has seen but will never like it cause he’s an arrogant £#%¥, but I’m kinda interested to know what these other filmmakers might have to say about Villeneuve’s masterpiece.
