Translation from Portuguese goes as follows (I goofed the copy and paste a couple times, sorry)

"Images from a security camera show an attempted murder that took place on Thursday afternoon (12) in Ibatiba, in the south of the state. Three women, a two-year-old child and a 53-year-old man, identified as Alair Bento Fonseca, were talking on the sidewalk in front of his house. One of the women is Alair's wife.

Suddenly a motorcycle approaches and, before it stops, the passenger jumps out of the vehicle and starts shooting. In the line of fire are the three women, but the target is Alair.

The man notices the movement of the passenger and pulls out the gun, shooting back. Despite the proximity, the criminal misses the shots. Most of the shots hit the post, which served as a shield and saved the lives of Alair and the women.

All this time, amidst the shooting, a child is on the ground. Despite this, no one was injured.

The victim told the police that friends warned him that the suspect would receive R$8,000 to kill him.

Initially, there was information that Alair Bento Fonseca was a police officer. However, by means of a note, the Civil Police informed that the information does not proceed.

Even Alair was booked in flagrante delicto for illegal possession of a weapon, paid bail and will respond freely.
