I take my showers before bed, sleep, get up and head off to work in the morning. now, I have a chronic back problem, so i take my showers as fast as possible. i don't sit around enjoying the hot water. i get in, wash up and get out.
Well one day about 4 weeks ago, my wife says to me, "there's something wrong with the shower, it went cold after 5 or 10 minutes." well that's odd. I'm a shitty handyman, but my father has been a maintenance man his whole life. industrial, commercial, residential. he's done it before, he can help me figure out whats going on. ill call him on the weekend when I'm free.
well that weekend didn't work out. so we tried the next weekend. that didn't work out either. maybe next weekend. that Monday I head off to work. I'm sitting at my desk, drinking coffee, working with my coworker trying to figure out how to deal with a user's issue, when i get a text message.
Wife: I took the dogs out this morning and i could hear running water. I think a pipe burst under the house.
well i dropped everything and got home as fast as possible. luckily, my wife isn't stupid. I got home and discovered that our hot water tank had burst. she had shut of the breaker to the tank and closed the valves. high five wife!
so I did what I had to and bought a new tank, and installed it with my father(he's a master electrician so he wired everything up). well that sucked. $1000 for a new tank but we need hot water. oh well.
until now. i get my bill from the electric company...$1200? did i forget to pay the bill last month? .....hmm nope....wait....3300 kWh????? what the actual fuck. so i call them up, "hey look this is obviously a fluke, my kilowatt hours are never over 700 in a month, how can we fix this?" "sorry sir, the technician only reads the meter and that's what it was at. you have to pay the bill."
fuck. well, that's OK I'm doing my taxes today anyway, I'll have enough to pay the bill.
so I go do my taxes. but as I'm watching my accountant fill out the form I'm noticing something odd....lots of 0.00's....."uhh...why are there so many 0's on my w2 this year??"
Accountant:"well it seems you may have incorrectly filled out your tax information. you owe the IRS $2000"
