Also Titty Hill

I'm going to hazard a guess that there are two similarly sized hills very close to each other to give it that name.

There are two mountains in central Namibia called the Omatako mountains which translates to butt mountain. It's pretty great.

Yikes. That's terrible. Less so for me since I go to movies in the very early AM whenever I can, but yikes.

I like to go to the first showings on Saturday mornings because the theater's usually pretty empty, but I haven't been able to use movie pass for one of those showings in months. Dont give them your bank information, the "service" is unusable.

I use a tamale pot to dye my yarn. They are pretty big and fit a lot of yarn.

I suggest a couple of drops of dish washing liquid. That will help pull the wool down into the water.

Agreed, plus the soap helps the yarn take dye more evenly in my experience.

So you're saying babies are not so much chupacabras, but rather chupagatos.

Thank you! I’m trying to figure out how not to do it again on the second sleeve. I assume the only way to go back is stitch by stitch?

You can put in an afterthought lifeline and then you can pick up the sleeve stitches and start the sleeve again like nothing ever happened.

If you don't want to go back and fix it, and don't care about a little hole, you can change directions (like turning your work) when you get to the beginning of the round and then you'll be back to knitting instead of purling. You could probably place a decrease over the hole to close it up a little.

Why are they so opposed to that?

I bet it's because it's pretty hard to write the 5 in cursive when signing.

Having people ask me how am I even though they don't really want to know or don't care and vice versa.

I try to just think of it as "I acknowledge your existence" "I also acknowledge your existence". It's sort of nice to be acknowledged rather than completely ignored.

I've lived abroad a couple of times in my life, and let me tell you, it is HARD. It can be a very enriching experience learning how other people experience life, but everything is just...different. Not necessarily better or worse, but not what you're comfortable with. I am so glad that I lived in Africa and Europe, but I'm not planning to move permanently again. Traveling will suffice for me. So basically, if you're not dead-set on living abroad for your own personal fulfillment, I'd stick to trips instead.

If I let my cat be a mousekeeper, I'm pretty sure she would just have a pet mouse.

The described series arc is the same as the plot of the first book. I liked the book, but would love a new story since we already have the book.

...there's a book?

There are two books. I haven't read the second, but the audiobook for the first is read by Kristen Bell. I liked it and I want to listen to the second one but Kristen doesn't read it so I'm not sure I'll enjoy it as much.

For $5 that's a great find! I have one of these and use it to make blanks. I've done double stranded so I can get matching gradient socks, as well as single stranded so I can do gradient shawls. Since you're just going to unravel it afterward, I would recommend not worrying too much about dropped stitches-I spent way too much time fixing mistakes when it didn't really matter because the yarn was still in the right place to take up the dye.

I didn't realize they get so big! I bought one because it looked like cute, chubby green beans, but now I'm really excited to see what it becomes!

It probably means judy's magic cast on where one needle is a 3 and one is a 4. I would guess later on in the pattern there is going to be a place where you join together the two sides to make a double thickness/folded brim.

Sunday morning is dead. Everyone’s either hung over or in church.

But then you can't buy wine or beer. Damned blue laws.

This is very cool! I want a machine that does the heels and toes and I'll do the fun part.

I'm definitely slipping purlwise... And I always wrap clockwise and don't usually twist my stitches, but it is my first time using YOs. Is there a specific way I need to wrap before and after the YOs? Thanks for taking the time :)

It's the yarnover that looks twisted. I don't know a good way to explain it in text, but basically the strand of yarn will just sit behind the stitch on the next row. If you look at the photo the yo is crossed/twisted in front of the stitch.

Original Poster2 points · 3 months ago · edited 3 months ago

Hm, so I just checked it but I don't find anything twisted... Im doing the YO back to front.. when I knit it indeed it creates the twist but if I don't then there is a hole, so I have no idea how else I can do it? This is knitted in the round by the way.

Edit: I was doing the YO wrong! I did not realise that depending on stitches before and after the YO would be different... Fixed!! Thanks so much!

I'm glad you were able to work it out. YOs and brks and brps are very frustrating to figure out the first time!

I love that v-neck to mock neck detail! It gives me all sorts of ideas for my own sweatering...

I always say I got knifed. Which is technically true. But she was a surgeon who I paid many thousands of dollars to cut me open and take out my wonky thyroid.

This is perfect. Well done.

That's what I was wondering yesterday. I wanted to go see the Spy Who Dumped Me at 10a, but the only showings were after 4pm. I just bought my own ticket for $5.50. Movie pass is dead. With $5.50 matinee tickets at my theater, I have to see two a month to make moviepass worthwhile, and since that's now effectively impossible, I'll just go back to paying the theater for movies instead of moviepass.

OP, do you use a word or something?

No, she just does it. I threw her toy a couple times and realized it kept reappearing at my feet. It's actually pretty great when you need to wear her out. Otherwise she runs laps that involve body slamming into me.

Hah :) guessing she's part Bengal? She looks so happy!

She's very soft, stripey and spotty, and very active, but I'd be surprised if she were part bengal since she came from a feral litter.
