Born on March 23, 1910, we celebrate Kurosawa's birthday by revisiting some of his classic films.
Arguably the best-known Japanese director in cinema history, Akira Kurosawa helmed influential films such as The Seven Samurai, Rashomon, The Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo, and his retelling of King Lear; Ran.
Directed by Robert Altman
Family-Oriented Adventure - Rated PG - 114 Minutes - 1980
Celebrate National Spinach Day with this oddball anomaly from the usually-reliable Robert Altman. A different kind of comic book hero, Popeye has superpowers and a troubled internal life, but you never saw Batman break out into song. Robin Williams apes amicably, and Shelly Duvall's pipe cleaner physique is picture perfect for her portrayal of Olive Oyl, but the real star of the film is Harry Nilsson's bright and tuneful score.
