Newbie needs help with basic lighting setup

Hey all. I'm looking to light up an area 3m in diameter from approximately 6m away. I figured two PARs hitting it from either side would do the job and with the room layout that's basically my only option, but have no idea how powerful they need to be. There will be other ambient light around but I'd like the two PARs to be bright enough to do the job on their own if needed. I'm not worried about DMX capabilities but being able to set a specific color would be nice (not just pure red, green or blue). There's no stores around for me to test or ask pros so I'll be ordering online.

Any help much appreciated. Are PARs the right choice? What about studio panel lights with barndoors?

Hi there r/stagelighting

I've been asked to look into to doing some Stage Lighting for a few events the company I work for has coming up.

They've recently purchased a wack load of various kinds of lights...but without much knowledge on how to use them.

I'm wondering if anyone can refer me to some tutorials on the basics of getting everything running together... I'm guessing using QLC+, or any other easy to use software.

I have a background in audio, and audio production, but lighting is a new mystery. I get the general understanding of DMX but I'd like to get into is a more. I have seen lighting folks with programs that have a graphic stage and let you design that way, more drag and drop style, but I couldn't say which program that is.

Any advice would be great.

Logic Pro X to ENTTEC DMX USB Pro to Chauvet Gigbar 2. What do I need from a software side?

Apologies, I'm complete lighting control newbie. I want a VST(?) plugin for Logic where I can program lights to go along to the songs.
Logic Pro X > ENTTEC DMX USB Pro > Chauvet Gigbar 2

What I’ve done so far:

  • I installed EMU and I get “You are using incompatible Audio Units. you have 1 Audio Unit(s) enabled which did not pass the Apple AU validation. ” When I open up Logic Emu does not show up in VST list even when enabled.

  • Showbuddy demo does show up

Is Showbuddy what I need to control light via Logic? What is the best/most user-friendly/well-documented option for my specific needs? Thank you so much!

Question regarding DMX controllers

Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time to read my post I’ve recently started getting into the lighting side of stage performances

I purchased a set of lights ( link attached below) and I now want to get myself a small DMX controller I was wondering if this controller (link attached below ) would be compatible with my lights.

My intentions with the controller/lights:

As you can see there is 4 LED lights on the set of lights I bought Is it possible to program each individual light to do something different Eg. 1st light blue backdrop (solid colour), 2nd &3rd light “strobe “, 4th light white spotlight (solid colour) If that’s possible Is it possible with the controller I have attached a link to? If not what controller would you recommend
