First and foremost, SWIFT is a competitor with Ripple but Ripple has stated very publicly that there will be competition in this space and that is healthy.

SWIFT implementing their own DLT solutions to facilitate cross-border payments is not the end of Ripple, nor it's products that run on the XRPL. In fact, this is a healthy sign that we are indeed entering an era where crypto and blockchain can facilitate transactions with actual utility rather than speculative trading.

Great, isometrixk, but SWIFT has the global partnerships with banks who are content with not switching services.

That they do but guess what? Disruption of the legacy services is unavoidable. In the banking system there will need to be some sort of integration in order to utilize a blockchain product. Ripple has strived to make the transition to their services as seamless as possible. We know this because companies are able to trial their payments on Ripplenet. Ripple also offers an invitation for banks to contact them to see how their product can help facilitate cross border payments efficiently and cheaply. Can we say the same for SWIFT's product?

Looks as though there isn't a lot of information around SWIFT's new DLT solution. In fact, their own report of DLT on their website is not available to download because of HTTPS mixed content issues. A small bug on their website but a hilarious - because this is a new technology their promoting for stakeholders and the front-end website is broken.

Which also reminds me of SWIFT GPI. The "Ripple Killer". As if two competitors couldn't exist. As it turns out, SWIFT GPI still had significant issues as it was a band-aid to their legacy messaging systems. Who is to say that their new product is any better? We have no information on performance or fees because the product is not in production yet.

Lastly, let's talk about time. Ripple has lot 2 critical years that the United States should have supported rather than crippled. I am just as frustrated as anyone else here. Something that I hear no discussions on are patents on the offered technology. Patents last for 20 years. SWIFT DLT is not, and can not be, Ripplenet due to patents on the technology. Ripple is one of the first private companies to forward think on cross-border payments and I'm sure they own the patents to protect themselves and others from duplicating their product. With little-to-no knowledge on SWIFT's product - perhaps it isn't possible to reach the levels of Ripple's efficiency and cost savings. Perhaps it is a little more sluggish. Perhaps it's faster.

Perhaps Ripple has a competitor to improve themselves upon. Perhaps SWIFT needs more improvement after initial DLT tests.

I weighed my risk investment options since 2018 with XRP. Not financial advice.
