My partner’s parents were buying a car today. Went through the entire process including test drive, negotiating price, accepting, transferring funds, transferring registration, and getting car insured. The deal was finalized and they were happy to be done after 4.5 hours of typical dealership bullshit.

Their salesman left to go pick the car up and bring it to the front. Car is parked, Keys are in the ignition, deal is done, and GFs dad is about to get into the car when another salesman drives by and sideswipes the passenger side of the car. The passenger door gets ripped off, car gets shoved into another car in front, and gfs dad is just in shock (but thankfully unharmed). The sales men just scramble, gf dad calls out for help, they say we’re getting a manager.

Manager comes back, says nothing, surveys car, and leaves. Gf dad yells to him before he gets inside to come back and tell him what’s going on. Manager tells him he’s calling their lawyers and says no more.

We’re eating dinner now and have no clue what’s going to happen, and would love to hear from anyone with insider knowledge

  1. Anyone ever hear of anything like this? I joked about this when I bought my last car “what happens if you wreck it when you’re driving it up front after I already paid?” I guess we’re about to find out.

  2. If you have seen this, how did it pan out? Who paid? Who was at fault?

2a. Clarifying that gf dad did not park the car, was not in the car, had never touched the car since obtaining ownership.

I live in Scarborough. In Wednesday morning, i did my car oil change at a auto mobile workshop located in Scarborough. Then i paid them 50 cad in cash. As i do uber-eats food delivery, i did delivery until 7:30 pm. Then all of a sudden, there was oil warning signal showing in my dashboard. So, I stopped my delivery & took my car infront of my house. Cause, the auto mobile shop was closed. Today’s morning, i tried to start my car but it didn’t start. So, i went to the shop with my roommate. I let them know that my car was not starting. The mechanic came with me with oil & tried to start the car but he couldn’t. So, he told me to tow the car to his shop. Later i found out that the mechanic didn’t repair properly. He didn’t use the exact filter for the oil change which is why my engine got crashed. I towed the car to the shop. But the shop is closed. So, i left the car in there. Tomorrow morning, i have to talk with them.

Now the thing is, If they don’t admit their fault what to do? The engine is blocked totally. i am totally scared.

Your valueable suggestions will help me to do the better steps. Thanks! 🙏
