Hello r/india redditors, r/NRIs, r/ReturningNRIs

After residing in USA for 12 years, I plan to come back to India to stay close to my parents. I have a 6 year old and it will unfair for her if we make this transition when she's 10-12 years old.

I still have 1 year and I will join a tech firm in Bangalore. Beside salary difference, traffic and pollution, what things should I keep in mind moving back to India like 401K, investment accounts and so on.

Would love to hear some personal experiences for folks who came back to India for good.

I (M23) was living alone for past 1 year but never learnt how to cook as I always had an excuse that I don't have time for that.

Relied on Food ordering services for first 2 months, got my liver damaged was hospitalized for 1 month

After that I subscribed to Tiffin service but got bored with the taste.

Finally between the job transition I decided to start cooking my own food, now I was not a newbie I knew some basic Egg recipes and some breakfast items but not full fledged curry dishes.

I didn't watched any tutorial just used my previous knowledge and boy oh boy this skill/hobby is so addictive that I can't imagine eating outside or ordering something.

The whole process of getting ingredients, planning the cooktime and seeing the final result is so satisfying you get a different type of high from this. You always select best ingredients for yourself and you start caring about different macro and micro nutrients.

I recommend everyone to just start with some simple dishes like Potato, Ladyfinger. You'll get a different taste even if you are eating Moong dal. You'll get to learn a mandatory life skill and you'll be generally healthy.

I've been cooking for last 2 months so give me some simple dessert recipes that I can try, thanks!!!

Edit: Hey regarding my Liver damage, so it was not something that happened because of 2 months it was months of bad eating habits just piling up. While I was at home I was getting atleast some type of homemade food but living alone just accelerated the process and it was also due to my high protein diet because you also have to increase you water intake in order for your body to process that protein.
