I previously made this post about maximizing the performance of the 7950X3D by turning off Game Mode and changing the CPU Set in Process Lasso.

Well it turns out there's another really good reason to do this: Minecraft actually suffers immensely when you leave it on default and let the scheduler restrict to only eight cores. It performs so much better on all 16 cores, as it will utilize all of them as it is heavily a CPU-bound game and multithreaded.

I am able to max out my rendering distance and fly quite high at playable framerates with all cores active (whereas not so much with only eight cores). I also experienced lots of lag as cores parked and unparked to meet the load.

EDIT: The title should just say "Minecraft", not Minecraft Java, as it applies to both versions. I'm sure there are other games like this. Just one of many reasons to turn off Microshit bullshit. As usual, Microsoft's implementation is utter garbage.

If you want to get rid of this malware, just run this in PowerShell admin: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay | Remove-AppxPackage

EDIT: Here's the proof that Minecraft benefits, for those asking: https://youtu.be/is8akNor8qA
