My friends and I were supposed to go on a trip to Seattle and Vancouver in March. I booked my ticket for $1000 and was ready to go. Unfortunately, my friends had to cancel due to financial problems with taxes. However, my flight was already paid for and so I received a travel credit. (We used different airlines because my loyalty points are at a different airline).

My friends used miles and received them all back but did have a $500 travel credit received for one seat that wasn't covered.

My friends said they wanted to postpone the trip and maybe do it later or even choose a different destination.

Since my credit expires at the end of the year, I realized that for 1k I can travel to another country instead of just across the state (I paid 1k because of upgrades and using a different airline that ended up being costlier). I have been learning Swedish for the past year (still got much to learn) and have visited Sweden two years ago during the holidays. I absolutely loved it, and this past holiday was sad because I dreamt about being in Sweden.

I then figured I could go to Sweden again in dec, but I wonder if its rude of me to just blow off my friends trip ideas? I just don't have much interest in traveling in the states ever since I went to London/Sweden. Furthermore, I may take my sister with me to London to see harry potter as we missed out on it last time due to covid regulations but still went to Sweden. Despite her ability to go or not this time around is still in the air, but regardless I feel uncertain about this plan due to having felt as though I blew off my friends.
