I’ve posted on here before regarding my parents’ anticipated move to Florida to flee persecution in NY. Well, they’ve moved, and bought a home here (despite it still being in a city area). The issue is that they are planning on selling their NY property in order to pay the mortgage for the new home, and all the debt accrued from the move. My grudge with this plan is this:

  1. My dad has not worked in NY for about a year prior because of fear of getting the vaccine and “the mark of the beast.” This means that all of the savings (retirement, future) has been used as a source of income for close to 12 months. There are very little savings left and he is now paying a lot of things through credit cards.

  2. They just bought a home in Florida in a relatively slow, very run, down, rural area out of the city. The home is well put together, but I generally don’t see it increasing in value in the next six years due to the extremely low property value of the homes.

They are planning on selling the NY home to pay off the new house completely. The thing is they are selling the old property at close to the same price they bought it for, despite it increasing in value. Our old property is worth more than twice this new home, and when done paying off the new house’s mortgage AND debt from the move, there will be a sum of money left, but not enough to plan a future with.

This, coupled with the fact that my dad is making less than he’s made in NY, and being the sole breadwinner, AND having two young children left to put through college, we simply don’t have much money for our future. My dad is not young, and should have been planning on retiring soon. But now, I know he will be working until he dies. I’ve taken out student loans and I know my siblings will unfortunately have to do the same. They’re basically leaving us with nothing despite 20+ years of hard work.

I’m trying to convince them to at least keep the New York home and rent sections out, but I don’t think my dad cares about a future since he thinks the end is just around the corner. When I try speaking to them about it, they seem a little hesitant but dismiss it with the usual, “it’s all in God’s hands”
