Liberia, officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. Liberia began as a settlement of the American Colonization Society (ACS), who believed black people would face better chances for freedom and prosperity in Africa than in the United States. Liberia was the first African republic to proclaim its independence, and is Africa's first and oldest modern republic. Internationally, Liberia was a founding member of the League of Nations, United Nations and the OAU.

Rwanda, officially the Republic of Rwanda, is a sovereign state in central and east Africa. Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Mali is the 8th largest country in Africa, with an area of over 1,240,000 square km (480,000 sq mi). The population of Mali is 19.1 million. The Gambia is Africa's most fascinating nation, a tiny state that simply runs along the coast of a small river. Created by the British Commonwealth, it is one of the few English-speaking Muslim countries in the world. It is enclosed by the larger nation of Senegal on all sides, except that it fronts on the Atlantic Ocean. Its chief exports are fabrics, coconuts and lumber, and the national sport is wrestling.
