Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Live

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Live

Singer–songwriter, Nathaniel Rateliff, performed live at Brighton Music Hall in Boston, MA. Rateliff captivated the audience at Brighton Music Hall with his intimate, authentic sound and uninhibited lyrics. This is a musician comfortable in his own skin and writing songs from life experience.

Rateliff was born in rural Missouri where he first began playing music in Church. He relocated to Denver at the age of 19 where he’s built a loyal and passionate following. He’s toured across the world including alongside such acts as Mumford & Sons, Deer Tick and The Lumineers.

Well worth your time to take a listen to these videos!

Very good sound!

The band Japan, whose other members included bassist Mick Karn, guitarist Rob Dean, keyboardist Richard Barbieri and Sylvian's brother Steve Jansen on drums, began as a group of friends. As youngsters they played music as a means of escape, playing Sylvian's two-chord numbers – sometimes with Karn as the front man, sometimes with Sylvian at the fore.
They christened themselves Japan in 1974, signed a recording contract with Hansa, and became an alternative glam rock outfit in the mould of David Bowie, T.Rex, and The New York Dolls. Over a period of a few years, their music became more sophisticated – drawing initially on the art rock stylings of Roxy Music. Their visual image also evolved and the band was tagged with the New Romantic label. Indeed, it could be argued that Japan was at the forefront of the entire New Romantic movement, even though the band never associated itself with it. Japan recorded five studio albums between March 1978 and November 1981. In 1980, the band signed with Virgin Records, where Sylvian remained as a recording artist for the next twenty years.
Has collaborated on a couple of singles with Ryuichi Sakamoto before working solo, and in collaboration with, a varied line up of artists and musicians including; Holger Czukay, Robert Fripp, Bill Frisell, Shinya Fujiwara, Jon Hassell, Haruki Kaito, Russell Mills, Bill Nelson, Shinro Ohtake, Marc Ribot, Steve Tibbetts, and Kenny Wheeler.

The On Stage Tonight series of syndicated radio concert broadcasts premiered on May 15, 1982, with a Hall & Oates concert recorded at the Capitol Theatre, Passiac, NJ on November 13, 1981. The show was part of a promotional push for CBS’s new RadioRadio network, which according to Radio After the Golden Age: The Evolution of American Broadcasting Since 1960 by Jim Cox, was "a CBS news slant targeting young adults, sans correspondents, with anchors reporting in two minute summaries, plus music, features, lifestyle trends, and health updates."

The live concert was on five sides of a 3 LP package (the last side was blank). The high quality box in which the 3 LPs were packacked featured color covers, front and back.  Some of the later shows apparently included interview segments, although none are present on the Hall & Oates show.

According to an article in Billboard the records were cut to audiophile standards, and mastered at the Record Plant at 2/3rds speed.  The production team was GK Productions, who also produced shows for the "A Night On The Road
series which had started broadcast in 1981.

Billboard June 19, 1982 says, "RadioRadio has cleared 164 stations for its On Stage Tonight series, which debuted May 15 with a Hall & Oates show. RadioRadio general manager Bill Kipperman says these stations deliver more than 80% of adults 18-34."  The original Billboard listing for the Hall & Oates premiere listed 67 stations. so it’s likely that only a few hundred copies of each show were produced.

I’ve identified the following shows in the On Stage Tonight series, along with confirmed broadcast windows, and if the box for the show featured a custom cover specific to the artist.  It's LIKELY that all of the shows had a premium box...

OST-182 Hall & Oates broadcast date of May 15, 1982 (custom box cover)
OST-282   ?
OST ?? Little River Band, broadcast date of June 5, 1982 (custom box cover)
OST-382  Al Jarreau broadcast date of July 24, 1982
OST-482 Sheena Easton   broadcast date of August 7, 1982 (custom box cover)
OST-582 Air Supply broadcast date of September 4. 1982 (custom box cover)
OST-682 Carole King broadcast date of October 2, 1982  (custom box cover)
OST-782 Commodores (custom box cover)

Based on that, it’s likely that the Little River Band is OST-282 and Al Jarreau OST-382, and the Commodores show was likely broadcast in November of 1982. So shows ran once a month for seven months.

The host was Joe Biedrzycki, a well known broadcast talent in the New England market area.  Biedrzycki was on the air at WAAF in the early days of progressive album-oriented rock radio in the mid-seventies, and was the Program Director of ROCK 101, WGIR FM in 1981; and has major market commercial radio experience in Boston with WZLX and WBOS, and he has been syndicated worldwide by London Wavelength, as one of several hosts of The BBC Rock Hour.

16 Horsepower - Live Hamburg, Germany 2002 {Back From The Dead}

16 Horsepower - Live Schlachthof
Hamburg, Germany
August 30, 2002
Soundboard @192

Born from the tumult of spiritual rebirth and worldly rejection, David Eugene Edwards is a man uncomfortable in the skin he considers a mortal restraint. It’s not to say that the man behind the alternative country act 16 Horsepower and the mercurial but no less influential Wovenhand considers himself above this world. Quite the opposite, actually. Edwards has for years now used the reckoning between his Christian beliefs and the world around him as a conduit to create a music that is utterly earnest and unhindered by listener expectation.

Pere Ubu - All Tomorrow's Parties 2013

Pere Ubu - All Tomorrow's Parties Festival
Melbourne, Australia
February 17, 2013
Quality: Ex/Ex+
Incomplete show - Various video rips

Pere Ubu emerged from the urban wastelands of mid-'70s Cleveland to impact the American underground for generations to follow; led by hulking frontman David Thomas, whose absurdist warble and rapturously demented lyrics remained the band's creative focus throughout their long, convoluted career, Ubu's protean art punk sound harnessed self-destructing melodies, scattershot rhythms, and industrial-strength dissonance to capture the angst and chaos of their times with both apocalyptic fervor and surprising humanity. Named in honor of Alfred Jarry's surrealist play Ubu Roi, Pere Ubu was formed in the autumn of 1975 from the ashes of local cult favorite Rocket from the Tombs, reuniting Thomas (aka Crocus Behemoth) with guitarist Peter Laughner; adding guitarist Tom Herman, bassist Tim Wright, keyboardist Allen Ravenstine, and drummer Scott Krauss, the group soon issued their debut single, "30 Seconds Over Tokyo," on Thomas' Hearthan label. The follow-up, "Final Solution," appeared on the renamed Hearpen in early 1976, and resulted in a series of live dates at the famed New York City club Max's Kansas City.

Joe Jackson, He's The Man...

Originally posted by Jobe, Sunday, October 21, 2012

I find the first two Joe Jackson records to be some of the finest "new wave" records that came out. But by Beat Crazy it seems that either he had lost interest or had just ran out of ideas. Cause next up was Jumpin Jive and he pretty much abandoned rock music all together. But he had a kick-ass band when he did "rock" Hey, Jesus I actually tried to write a straight review. What the fuck is wrong with me? You can be sure that shit will never happen again. @320 See scans

Joe & Jobe are still alive and kicking way back here

Elysian Fields - Live Black Session
Session 194
June 16, 2003
Studio 105, Paris, France
FM Source @192

Elysian Fields is an American band based in Brooklyn, New York, founded in 1995 by the co-composers Jennifer Charles (vocals, instruments) and Oren Bloedow (guitar). Their music has sometimes been described as "noir rock", due to its sultry, dark and mysterious inflections, be it sonically or lyrically. The band uses mainly acoustic instruments, predominantly guitar, piano, bass and drums, with the occasional appearance of eastern instruments, classical strings, and subtle electronics, the focal point being the voice of Charles in the forefront.
