So I've been on a search for a 'marine' fragrance for a very long time. I have tried pretty much every 'blue' or 'marine' scent on the market (besides obscure flankers). I never really found anything that really fit.

One that came close was Chanel Allure Homme Sport. But the strength and longevity are so laughable, I now see it as a pricier Axe spray. Another one was Millisime Imperial by Creed, which I find to be a very likeable and easy scent. But it's also very linear and becomes irritating to the nose after a while (also, poor performance). The D&G Light Blue line was pretty decent, and I think I like the 'Forever' flanker the best, but it seems to get bad reactions.

Then came along ADG Profondo. On the opening, I thought it was finally 'the one'. It had a nice mineral aquatic note, fresh and classy, so I bought the bottle. However, after applying it a few times, I realised that the drydown smells terrible. Not just a mild difference, but it really transforms into something repugnant and unrecognizable, maybe best described as some kind of exotic insect repellant (something I notice in all ADG frags).

I'm surprised I find this fragrance so challenging since it's the most popular DNA for men ever made. And it's confusing because I'll enjoy the opening, hate it after a few minutes, and then catch occasional whiffs that are still quite interesting and complex. So I'm always on the fence about selling it. Somehow when I wear it, I often get unsolicited compliments, but I'm not sure if it's for the reason I want it to be. For others here, do you notice the marine/mineral scent remains? Or does it change for you as well? I guess it's no use keeping a fragrance that you don't like (despite its reputation and complement factor), if only they could bottle the initial opening.
