One of the peaks of TV in the 80s has to be Ernest Bognine in a lavender jumpsuit made out of the same material "Members Only" jackets were of.

two things I’ve learned about my favorite childhood TV shows:

  1. it’s almost always a bad idea to watch them again. the adult you might think that they’re stupid and that will make you sad

  2. never EVER EVER read about the actors’ lives. bad idea. you will regret it. just don’t.

I tried to watch Airwolf way back when it came to Netflix at some point… it was so bad I only made it through a few episodes.

Loved it as a kid.

Intro was epic, up there with Street Hawk for epic intros. That 222 still looks wonderful too. The show hasn't aged as well though, but some of the action pieces are fantastic, they really had to fly like that back then, none of that CGI nonsense.

Every time I saw him “playing” the cello accompanied by that hawk I had to laugh. It was so corny. It was a little repeated scene that confirmed his name. But….I still watched it.

Thanks for the reminder re: the Airwolf TV series - it looks like a great show. Never saw even one episode of this, though I remember it being on.

Need to watch the TV series at some point - though I have a huge backlog of shows I want to see, so am not sure when I'll have the time - LOL.

For some reason, this show reminds me of the excellent film Blue Thunder (1983), starring Roy Scheider - also featuring a high-tech helicopter. That movie also spawned a short-lived TV series of the same name.

Except that Airwolf could shred Blue Thunder in two minutes flat. So says 12 yo me back in the day.
