Will Smith

Willard Carroll "Will" Smith, Jr. (born September 25, 1968) is an American actor, producer, rapper, and songwriter. He has enjoyed success in television, film, and music. In April 2007, Newsweek called him "the most powerful actor in Hollywood". Smith has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, and has won four Grammy Awards.

In the late 1980s, Smith achieved modest fame as a rapper under the name The Fresh Prince. In 1990, his popularity increased dramatically when he starred in the popular television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show ran for six seasons (1990–96) on NBC and has been syndicated consistently on various networks since then. After the series ended, Smith moved from television to film, and ultimately starred in numerous blockbuster films. He is the only actor to have eight consecutive films gross over $100 million in the domestic box office, eleven consecutive films gross over $150 million internationally, and eight consecutive films in which he starred open at the number one spot in the domestic box office tally.

Will Smith (rugby league)

Will Smith (born 3 July 1992) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League. He primarily plays at five-eighth, but can also fill in at centre and fullback.

Background

Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Smith is an Indigenous Australian and played his junior football for the Western Suburbs Rosellas in the Newcastle Rugby League. He was then signed by the Newcastle Knights.

Early career

From 2010 to 2012, Smith played for the Newcastle Knights' NYC team. On 28 May 2012, he re-signed with the Knights on 1-year contract. In 2013, he moved on to the Knights' New South Wales Cup team. On 25 June 2013, he signed a 2-year contract with the Penrith Panthers starting in 2014.

2014

In Round 21 of the 2014 NRL season, Smith made his NRL debut for the Panthers against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. On 21 September, he was named at five-eighth in the 2014 New South Wales Cup Team of the Year.

Will Smith (linebacker, born 1992)

William Lamont "Will" Smith (born January 13, 1992) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Texas Tech.

Early years

Smith played football, basketball and ran track at the high school level for Notre Dame High School. He received league MVP and All-county honors in both football and basketball.

College career

He began his college career playing football at the NCAA Division II level at Northwood University in 2010 as a freshman. Smith would later transfer to Riverside City College in his hometown, helping the team to a perfect 11-0 record as a sophomore. At the end of the year, he announced his intention to transfer to NCAA Division I Texas Tech University in 2012.

In his initial season at Texas Tech, he played in all 13 games and logged 55 tackles with 34 solo tackles. His performance would earn him an third Team All-Big 12 Conference selection by Phil Steele.

Smith's senior season in 2013 earned him several accolades. He posted 120 tackles (86 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and a fumble return for a touchdown. His mark of 120 tackles was the most by a Red Raider since the NCAA record setting Lawrence Flugence's in 2002 at 193.

Early life and education

Though born in Winchester, Smith grew up in Jersey and was educated there at Victoria College. His brother is the TV presenter and wine critic Olly Smith.

Smith started his career in stand-up comedy, winning awards including Chortle Best Headliner 2005 and Time Out Comedy 2004. One critic called him 'the Hugh Grant of comedy', and he appeared in The 11 O'Clock Show with Sacha Baron Cohen and Ricky Gervais as the character 'Posh Boy'. The character of Will Smith is loosely based on the life of actor Will Smith. Smith's charming and mischievous personality earned him the nickname "Prince," which eventually became "Fresh Prince". When NBC signed Smith up for the sitcom, he was almost bankrupt, and it immediately launched his acting career.

William Raymond Smith III (born July 4, 1981) is an American football defensive end who is currently a free agent. He played college football for Ohio State and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

Early years

Smith was born in Queens, New York to William and Lisa Smith. He was raised in Utica, New York. At Proctor High School in Utica, Smith was a USA Today All-American pick, and was rated by Prep Football Report as the best defensive line prospect in the state. As a senior he had 20 sacks.

New Orleans Saints

Smith was selected as the 18th pick in the 1st round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He had a successful rookie season with 30 tackles and 7.5 sacks. In 2005 he had 48 tackles and 8.5 sacks and played well enough that the Saints did not re-sign Darren Howard thus making Smith the starter opposite Charles Grant for the 2006 season. Smith has gradually established himself as one of the premier defensive ends in the NFL.
