Prof. Michael McCann is one of the top names in sports law and someone we enjoy reading because he's able to take complex legal issues and make them accessible without taking away their nuances.

While he and I are both lawyers and educators, this talk will be built around accessible questions to help a lay audience better understand the topics — we will touch on the hot topics including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policies, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and NCAA v. Alston, and more.

Michael McCann is a Legal Analyst and Senior Sports Legal Reporter at Sportico. Prior to joining Sportico, he was a Legal Analyst and Staff Writer for Sports Illustrated from 2007 to 2020. McCann is also an attorney and Professor of Law at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he is Director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Institute. He is the Editor of the "Oxford University Press Handbook of American Sports Law" and, with Ed O'Bannon, co-author of "Court Justice: The Inside Story of My Battle Against the NCAA." McCann has also authored more than 20 book chapters and law review articles, including placements in the Yale Law Journal and Boston College Law Review. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School, the University of Virginia School of Law and Georgetown University. McCann resides in Andover, Mass., with his wife and their daughter.
