  • There is something so beautiful about reaching out to the monstrous with intent to touch it gently. To risk the sharp teeth and the lethal claws, to defy fear and revulsion, and choose to be delicate with something that can be, and often is, incredibly brutal.

  • *Sighs and climbs up onto my fan box, which is like a soap box but just for nerdy crap*
At the time, Park Row was a fairly safe neighbourhood. It was a mix of small businesses like boutiques and restaurants, as well as old residential apartments. A decent comparison would be Tribeca in New York. I might be misremembering, because it's been portrayed tons of times in the comics and films and shows, but I think there was even mention of them taking the shortcut because they'd done it so often since one of Thomas' free clinics was basically across the street.
It was the Waynes' murders that really started the slide from being a trendy neighbourhood to becoming Crime Alley. Not just because it scared so many people to see such prominent people getting gunned down, but without the Waynes in Gotham, mob families like the Falcones and Maronis really ramped up their activity.
It's also heavily implied that it wasn't a mugging but an assassination.

  • So the wolf in the Shrek movies seems to identify as a man, and just happens to wear a pink dress as his outfit of choice. Meanwhile Doris the Ugly Stepsister is definitely a woman while having some masculine features. Then there’s Pinocchio who is unambiguously male (he celebrates becoming a “real boy”) but secretly wears womens’ underwear. And I know this was mainly done for cheap transphobic comedy but like. They’re all basically decent people who are on the heroes’ side and get to live happily ever after, so there’s not reason not to read it completely straight. The only person who shames the wolf for cross-dressing is Fairy Godmother, and she’s a villain so we’re meant to dislike her. Shrek’s extended friend group just contains a lot of genderqueer weirdos who are living their best life and I think that’s great.

  • Actually, Doris IS trans or at least a Drag queen. It appeared in the extra material from one of the DVDS

According to what I saw in a Facebook post, it says that it’s on the extra material from Shrek 2 and she made the transition thanks to the Fairy Godmother
