The striking thing about the 1/6 committee report, beyond the copious telling of the chilling story, is just how many Trump apparatchiks/WH aides were seized by a sudden bout of forgetfulness when they testified. Kudos to those who honored their oaths!

Trump improbably blames Pelosi for failing to prevent the 1/6 insurrection--though he's suggested that he would grant a blanket pardon for all those convicted of participating in it! The folks he called "very special" on the day it all went down.

Democrats were stunned to hear that McConnell is "more of a Democrat than a Republican." And as to who has been "an absolute disaster" for the Republicans? Well...🤔

A haggard-looking Trump issues a video today: “Mitch McConnell is an absolute disaster .. He’s more of a Democrat than a Republican. What he is doing to this party is incredible.”

FWIW, all the other presidents mentioned voluntarily released their tax returns. And why should you HAVE to request something that's already mandatory?

Discussing U.S. aid, Zelensky pointedly notes it is "not charity but an investment in global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way."

Shrewd for Zelensky to weave Iran into the narrative, as he seeks to shore up support in Congress for new and future aid.

How moving to hear this ovation for Zelensky, fresh from the battlefield, for him and, presumably, the valiant Ukrianian people!

For those pleading the case for the long suffering @Mets fans, I was rooting for them when they were 40-122--still the worst record in history. Seven years later, they swept the World Series with a team of young kids and old castoffs. Memories you just can't buy!

Recounts should ba automatic if the margin falls within a small, contestable increment. But when candidates or initiatives win by insurmountable margins--in these cases nearly 20 points!--those who demand recounts should pay the FULL cost of conducting them, not taxpayers.

As a kid growing up in NYC, I loved the because they were plucky underdogs. Now they're the team anyone who loves baseball should root against, with a disreputable owner who is so blatantly trying to buy a title that you have to hope he fails.

Trump is the only president since Nixon who has refused to release his tax returns. Presidents should be required by law to disclose their full returns. (By the way, that more than his legal liabilties or even bad polls might give Trump pause about running again.)

Given the rebuke of election deniers in the November election, Republicans need to consider how vigorously they want to contest the findings of the 1/6 committee, which were thorough and damning. How many blows do they want to take for Trump?

We know how Trump & his amen corner will react to today's hearing. But amid all the cries of partisanship, it should be noted: the House GOP, prodded by Trump, turned down a proposal for a bipartisan 9/11-style commission to review the insurrection and events leading up to it.
