LPT: If you see an overweight friend/ acquaintance making healthier life choices or who lost weight: don’t talk about it unless they do.

Edit: since people skip the part where it says « unless they do » it’s about people you don’t know if they are trying to make changes or are ok talking about it and say so. If you know and talk about this LPT is not what this is about.

They are already suuuuper self conscious and praising them with good intentions may make them feel watched. Moreover for people with ED it may be more triggering. Just wait for them to open up about it. You don’t know if they are sick or just making changes. A big « you look healthy » when you are super sick isn’t the compliment we intend it to be.

Also, don’t criticize their previous choices or body « you look so much better now! » « yeah it’s great you made change, you really needed it! ».

LPT: if youre using silicone caulk for some project, squeeze out a little dab on a post it or something and keep it next to it. when you inevitably want to poke it to see if its done, you can just poke the little dab instead and wont mess up the actual thing you're working on

LPT: The correct phrases/spellings are "sleight of hand," "toe the line," and "en route."

Not "slight", "tow" and "on" or "in." I genuinely see these written down incorrectly far more frequently than I see them written correctly. Even a lot of people with excellent written communication skills seem to be unaware of the correct versions of these.

LPT: When talking with customer service remember they didn't cause your problem.

Start out by prefacing your frustration with "I know that you are just working here and I am not angry at you but the situation." Or something along those lines. The person you are talking to is just another person like you and making that small gesture can help resolve the situation much easier. They have the unfortunate position of being an earpiece for business and have to clean up its messes. This small acknowledgement can set a much better tone for the conversation and help resolve the issue much quicker and with much less hassle.
