It's not my problem, mate! (Not OC) by crimsonvipor in IdiotsInCars

I was in one of those horrible traffic jams, a mile long with three stoplights. We finally got to that sweet spot where if you just let off the peddals your automatic (sorry manual folks) will coast oh so comfortably and you don't have to use the brake. This is how you know you're nearly out of the jam. This should be a blissful moment.

The guy in a red Element (ever heard of taste?) In the lane next to me slammed on the gas till he was at the bumper of the guy in front of him and then slammed on the brakes, reapating the cycle endlessly. He wasn't in a manual, I've done this dance in a manual and I know what it looks like. Like, driving is not just acceleration and brake my dude. It was so sad to watch.

LPT request: What are some pro tips everyone should know for cooking at home and being better in the kitchen? by samgarita in LifeProTips

[–]IAMAscientistAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipes are more about proportion than amount. If you think about it this way you can go from constantly reading the recipe to just eyeballing everything.

Texture is a flavor. If I see one more "Perfect mashed potato" recipe with peeled potatoes made so smooth they look like mayonnaise I'm gonna flip. Just use the boxed stuff if you want potato baby food.

I was still under my parents wing in the early 00s and their primary activity is to watch Fox news. Always has been. When I went to high school and met actual diverse people and saw them doing the same work as I did I slowly started to open up to the world and my opinions began to change. This is how I didn't know until college that the WMDs were made up and we literally just steamrolled into a country at the behest of Shell and the Saudis. I would love to say I have no idea how the lie stuck to anyone, but I've seen how the propaganda machine works its magic and it's just sickening.

Support independent journalism, work your polls, have those ideological conversations with strangers (not as a poll worker tho, that's illegal) and never stop revising your viewpoint.

Haha in college the two apartments that I shared a corner with were both couples. They we're good people, we were all friends. But when one started doin it, it inspired the other one. They were both quite loud.

Tahoe's and suburbans? How are you supposed to catch criminals when you drive like old people fuck? I've never seen one of those not hit the curb or come to complete stop to make a right turn. Can those even go 70? Never seen it? Are they hauling perps or 14 kids with 16 individual parents?

Every time I see a Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon I take a side street. You gotta be dumb as fuck to sit in a dealership and go, yeah, actually $75/week in gas sounds pretty dope.

I found a perfect camp spot once while backpacking. Set up, made dinner, and it was only laying in the tent when I saw a huge Widowmaker being held up by just one branch from another tree. Had to move to a lesser spot, in the dim light. Always check the trees by your campsite.

My little brother, well into his 20s, is still convinced that turning the toaster to the highest setting makes it toast faster, not longer. "You just have to watch it to make sure it doesn't burn," he says.

He's only doing because dems need every vote, and they need excited voters. All those rallies and all the social media does make a slow difference. The party may only listen to the people when they need the people to participate, but now that we have them we need to prove that the party needs every one of us.

This is the main difference I've noticed between leftists and right wingers. Right wingers will throw a damn party if a single judge makes a single descision that's probably going to be appealed one day but may be able to make life miserable for someone they dislike. They lose their fucking mind over an increment of progress. But tons of leftists won't even vote when their constitutional rights are forcibly taken because they just don't feel like it matters. Fight harder and vote. Infrastructure, marijuana, marriage, health, all of it matters just as much as we act like it matters.

Wow Sony really have gone off the deep end. I see all their studios want to copy cuckman now. It's not possible to get that buff, even in three years, and that's with modern tech and roids. During Ragnarok, forget it. It's just an SJW fantasy. Real men aren't this jacked, I know because I hit the gym every day. Politics ruined this series for me now. Never buying a PS5 with Sony pushing this political bullshit. What's next? Shape shifting and generlessness? They really have just discarded their accurate Norse setting that everyone liked. Sony's gonna go out of business I'm buying an Xbox

Does anyone else rub their (gloved) hands with alcohol just for the cooling sensation? by Anonymous_Otters in labrats

[–]IAMAscientistAMA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I run pretty warm so long pants + lab coat + gloves + closed toe shoes in a 70°F room makes me sweat. And my sweat stinks. So I do anything I can to cool down including: standing in the sample cooler, ethanol on the gloves, and holding the cool samples in one hand while I work with the other, placing my hand on the inner door of the deep freezer while I fake looking around, hugging the nitrogen Dewar, and when nobody's around I sometimes pour the extra LN2 from the Dewar over my stool and bench to cool down my whole working environment.
