How did it get started?
I started this blog a few years ago with the original intention of blogging about strictly feminist and LGBTQ issues. Since then, it has evolved in accordance with what I find fascinating to write about.
How did it change?
While observing the men’s rights activist (MRA) movement, I stumbled upon the so-called “alt-right” — a collection of white nationalists, overt Neo-Nazis, fascists, anti-feminists, and Islamophobes. By 2016 the alt-right became synonymous with white supremacy and the rise of Donald Trump as a political figure.
However, since around 2018 the label has fallen out of favor. What was once known as the “alt-right” has fallen apart thanks to the infighting, deplatforming, legal troubles stemming from the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally, as well as the failure to effect change via political means.
However, this website continues to monitor white supremacist movements in all forms.
Why the name ‘Angry White Men’?
The short answer is that such people are usually the focus of my writing.
The ultimate inspiration for the name, however, came from far-right shock jock Michael Savage, who promised that the “white male in particular … has nothing to lose, and you haven’t seen him yet.” And he claimed that “there’s an ugly side to the white male that has been suppressed for probably 30 years right now, but it really has never gone away.”
