Steph Curry is having an insane year, posting a +31.2 On-Off. His unanimous MVP season was "only" +22.6, mainly because that bench was so much better. This year, his bench is full of the worst guys -- Kuminga is dead last at -27.6 On-Off, and even Jordan Poole is near the bottom at -18.9.
For context on this number:
Jokic (DEN) led 2022 with +16.4
Gobert (UTA) led 2021 with +19.1
Giannis (MIL) led 2020 with +12.7
Danny Green (TOR) led 2019 with +17.6
RoCo (PHI) led 2018 with +14.8
Nobody has ever carried at this level -- I can't find anyone at +20 besides Draymond and Steph in 2016 and Chris Paul in 2015. That's because Curry has been other-worldly, and his bench has been all-time bad. Yet they sit at .500 and are trending upwards.
For the leaders listed, Jokic was MVP, Gobert was on the 1 seed, Giannis won the chip and MVP, Danny Green won the chip, and RoCo somehow got this on a good but not great 76ers team. If Curry can even get mediocre performance out of his bench, GSW is poised for great things.
And as good as Luka, Giannis, and Tatum have been, they are much less 'valuable' to their teams. GSW would not win 10 games without Curry.
