Plot: The home world has been attacked by the Mara, insectoid creatures. In defense, the World Defense Force has set up outposts to warn of any potential invasion in outlying solar systems. Outpost 731 is awaiting an upgrade to the Calvin 6000 computer to make it fully automatic. As the refit crew arrive, they are attacked by the Mara who have secretly made a base on a nearby moon in preparation for a massive invasion of the Home World. The skeleton crew on the station and the refit crew fight for survival and struggle to alert the World Defence Force that a major attack is imminent. Surprise ending.

Plot: Petr is 17 years old and starts work. Incredibly (for Czechoslovakia in 1963) this is as a security worker against shoplifting in a busy self-service shop. He doesn't do much better at the dancehall either, and at home his bombastic father lectures him about how useless he is.
