Is anyone interested in a cryptocurrency meetup? by app_priori in washingtondc

Bitcoin's value comes from its properties. It is scarce, it can be transmitted around the world in seconds, it is easily divisible, it is created on a set schedule (which diminishes over time towards scarcity), and it exists outside any centralized organization. It's valuable for the same reasons that gold is valuable. It's a "backup" international value system. Sure, they are not identical, (gold is sometimes used in jewelry and has a longer history, Bitcoin is volatile in the current market), but gold is not easily divisible or instantly transmittable, and its possible that a couple decades from now bitcoin's price would be as boring as gold's is today. As for paying rent or buying groceries etc, you can't do those things in gold either, but it has value. To be clear, I am not a bitcoin nut or anything, I am of the opinion that most crypto is dumb/useless, just trying to provide a balanced perspective if you are actually wondering what actual value people see.

I am one of the biggest beatles fans I know and it seems like you are a big fan too. If you haven't yet, please do yourself a favor and listen to MacLemore Avenue by Booker T and the MGs. Make sure you find the [Stax Remasters], here is a link to it on spotify. Its just wonderful

Yes. I did have a secret trick.

CBD joints.

CBD is a cousin of weed without any psychoactive properties. So it is basically just a joint of nothingness. When I was drunk and was craving a cigarette 11/10, code red style, I smoked a CBD joint that I had rolled before. Like an emergency rip chord. The downside of this is that it looks, smells, and tastes like marijuanna, so it might not be ideal for a work setting. But I wonder if there is another innocuous herb that smells like tobacco without nicotine. A quick google search showed me these but I think they are going to smell like weed too. I would search the web for something that doesnt smell like weed. Or just tell people that you are smoking a CBD cig to quit nicotine. I dont think anyone on the smoking platform out back is going to give a shit. But it doesnt get you high in any way. It also doesnt really "fix" the urge to smoke, you still want a smoke, but I think lighting something up and taking a big deep puff (10 times or whatever) was enough to bring my code red to a code yellow, which I can manage.

Another thing I will say: I think you may just have to leave sometimes and prioritize your quitting. Say you had food poisoning, just simply irish exit and deal with the fallout later, whatever. Just get out. They arent going to fire you for leaving a work party.

Anyways just my 2 cents. Best of luck to you, friend!

The way that I was able to overcome triggers like you are describing is by exposing myself to the triggers in small managed doses. So for example, my trigger was drinking. I went to a bar, had one beer, and left - with the express goal of the entire trip just being to expose myself in a safe, controlled way. So for you I would say maybe just go to your work thing for 15 minutes and then get the heck out of there. Half hour at the next one. An hour at the next one after that. That’s my advice

I know what you mean but don't be fooled by this video. This was like a 10 second glimmer of fun in the last 2 decades of hell. This video DOES NOT accurately represent the team and what it was like "before" 😂
