This just happened recently my refrigerator compressor (the part that’s pumps cooling fluid to make the fridge cold) broke down and it would cost $2500 just to get a new one. So my parents said yep we’re getting a new fridge.

The first place they went to was Best Buy and we’re able to find a new fridge at a pretty decent price they said it would be ready to deliver by Wednesday this week. Perfect!!! Or so we thought.

The next day we get a call that the fridge we were supposed to get hasn’t even arrived at the store yet and won’t be here for a few weeks so naturally we were very mad. My dad immediately went to Find another fridge for sale at a different store. This time he went to Lowes and he found another one with a better price than the one before and lowes offers free delivery and will be here by Friday this week. My dad bought the fridge but my mom wanted to double check Best By again (despite what happened) to see if she could get a lower price so they went back and sure enough nothing.

Now here’s the part where we got some petty revenge on best buy for lying:

As they were leaving a different couple was already arguing with a manager for (ironically enough) the delivery time for a new fridge. The manager said that they won’t get there new fridge until after Christmas this year. (Yes I am serious) My dad Happily Chimed in on the conversation and told the couple that lowes can deliver a new fridge for a lower price in 2 days.

It should go without saying that the couple and a few other customers followed my parents out of the store.

Edit: I have noticed a few things in the comments I would like to point out

1: Best Buy did lie to my dad because they said the new fridge will be at my front door by Wednesday and he did already pre ordered for it. But when they called to say that the fridge that we bought was not even at the store yet my parents wanted a refund. They also told us to expect more delays which we were not happy as we were promised quick service. They failed to deliver.

2: I’m still counting this as revenge because that manager was actually trying to keep customers according to dad they were trying to sweet talk that other couple into a deal in exchange for a long wait. When my dad intervened it was over for him. He could tell that he wasn’t happy.

Edit 2: Also brought to my attention is the fact that people are telling me that something is off with the price for the new compressor ($2500) we did call a mechanic to inspect the fridge when it busted he said the compressor was the issue which broke the whole thing. They said that a new compressor plus the labor to install it would cost $2500 including tax.

There’s no fucking way we’re doing that. And you guys are on to something about this price being to much but they won’t go down.

Also the old fridge is an LG smart fridge which broke down right before the 5 year warranty expired but LG is trying to put it off like we have to pay everything.

The mechanic did mention that because of this LG is getting sued. Hundreds of people who have an LG smart fridges are experiencing the same thing.

Moral of the story: don’t lie to your customers it’s bad for business.

My local Best Buy had the 7 and 7 Pro on display. I was able to spend some time checking them out. Here are my thoughts and things to note. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help. For comparison I cannot comment on how they compare to the 6 and 6 Pro in terms of camera and performance, considering I only had my 4 XL on me. I was unable to test anything battery, or unlocking wise.

Design/Hardware

Both devices are nice, and feel premium. I was a tad underwhelmed though, because they seem very similar to the 6 & 6 Pro devices. The size of the 7 feels perfect, and I much prefer the flat display. The 7 Pro curved sides have been reduced from the 6 Pro last year so that's a good improvement. The Obsidian/black model was the only one on display. It picks up a lot of fingerprints, and feels like the same finish as the 6 series. I'll be curious how the Snow and Hazel colors compare. The 7 camera bar and side rails are matte, which I prefer. The 7 Pros looks nicer, but it's glossy which isn't for me.

Display

Both devices are very bright. For the limited time I spent, I couldn't notice a quick difference between the 120 hz and 90 hz screens.

Camera

The 7 Pro selfie cam gives you a wider angle than the 7. The back camera can zoom in much further. On the 6 Pro I had owned, I often had issues with low light on the selfie camera. The processing would make you look like a water color painting. I'm a tad worried that the 7 and 7 Pro is using the same selfie camera, and will have the same issue. I could only test this in the store, so I do not know forsure how selfie photos will look in bad lighting situations. But from what I was able to capture, the selfies did not seem super sharp. I'd expect in sun light they will look very good as they have in the past. For the Macro Focus mode, I was unable to figure out how to use that on the 7 Pro. There wasn't anything obvious that said Macro in the camera app. I thought by focusing on something up close with the ultrawide lens would allow me to do that, but no help there. One thing I did notice as an upgrade from the 6 Pro to the 7 Pro, was on the 6 Pro as you zoom in on a subject, you could really notice when the camera switched from the main lens to the telephoto. On the 7 Pro, the switching of the lens is a lot more smooth, and less noticeable.

Conclusion The Pixel 7 ultimately is the better value. I'm someone who really cares about the camera specs, but for the 7 Pro you're essentially paying $300 for a telephoto lens, more RAM, and a larger battery. So if those matter to you, and you don't mind the 6.7 in display, then go for the Pro.

Something I'm also realizing with Pixels, is that unless you're upgrading to a device with major hardware upgrades, you're going to have a very similar experiences, since the software is so consistent and we all get software upgrades. I'd imagine iPhone users have similar experiences. If you want something that really feels new, then I'm starting to realize you're better off switching OS's or manufacturers.

What I'll be most curious from reviews are, do the overheating issues still exist, how's the battery, how's the face unlock compared to the Pixel 4, and has the fingerprint scanner improved at all.

My phone history includes:

  • Droid Bionic

  • Samsung Galaxy s3

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 7 [RIP]

  • Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge

  • Google Pixel 2 XL

  • Google Pixel 4 XL

  • Google Pixel 5a

  • Google Pixel 6 Pro

  • Google Pixel 4 XL [returned-the-6-pro]

Best buy is currently running 2 promotions.

  1. Unlocked S22+ 128gb is on sale for $750

  2. S21 has an enhanced trade in value of $800

If you do the math that means they will pay you $50 for upgrading your phone. I just did it with both my S21s and walked out with 2 S22+ phones and a $75 gift card.

Slickdeals link

In store only
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp-cell-phones/unlocked-samsung-galaxy-trade-in/pcmcat1621537879921.c?id=pcmcat1621537879921

People keep asking how long this will last for. The answer is until best buy sells out of S22+ phones. The Slickdeals post I linked to has 100k+ views. I expect them to sell out within a week if not tomorrow.

People are buying s21s on eBay and Amazon just to trade in. A common trick I see people using to guarantee in stock availability is they order an s22+ for in store pickup. Go to the store, cancel the order, and rebuy the phone using the promotion.
