Finished: Piranesi by Susanna Clark (An absolutely beautiful book).
Started: A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
Finished: The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey
Super interesting Halloween read! I love religious history and I found the Satanic Bible enlightening and fun. Planning on adopting some Satanic tenants as I develop my personal spiritual philosophy :3
Currently Reading: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Put on pause for a couple days to read the Satanic Bible but I'm back, baby!!!
Finished:
Mysteries of Thorn Manor, by Margaret Rogerson (ARC) - 3.5/5
Cute & fluffy novella, but I would pass if you liked the open ending of Sorcery of Thorns.
Radiant Sin, by Katee Robert (ARC) - 3/5
It was… fine? The crazy plots in these are really starting to detract from the romance. The steamy scenes were good but everything surrounding it was chaotic and made no sense.
Shadows of Self, by Brandon Sanderson - 5/5 (reread)
I really appreciate the humor in these now way more than I did when I first read them!
Currently Reading:
Saint, by Sierra Simone
The Bands of Mourning, by Brandon Sanderson
I’m Glad my Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy
Babel, by R.F. Kuang
Finished Life, by Keith Richards
and started Food Rules, by Michael Pollan
Closing in on the end of The Thorn Birds, by Colleen McCullough and have really enjoyed it so far! Also started The Selfish Gene, by Richard Dawkins.
I'm Glad by Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy was the first book I finished this week. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jennette herself in just one sitting. It blew me away. There were many parts of this book that left me shocked or sobbing. Some parts made me laugh. I left feeling hopeful for Jennette and inspired myself. Her reflection is as raw as it comes. I highly recommend it.
A Life on Our Planet, by David Attenborough was the second book I read this week. I bought it thinking that it would be an autobiography but it was more about the environment. Still good. I feel like I learned a lot.
Life, the Universe and Everything, by Douglas Adams was the last book I finished. Very disappointing. There were a few jokes that made me laugh but I expected more. I'm not sure if the series is worth finishing.
Dune Messiah, by Frank Herbert was a book I started. I'm a few chapters in and it seems much more political than the first novel. It is interesting. I'm particularly interested in seeing Paul's relationship with the princess, Chani, Alia, and the Reverend Mother.
